53 An Ottoman style, hanging ornament of spherical form, decorated with blue, orange and black motifs, 16 cm high 40-50 This style of ceramic ornament seems to date from at least the 16th Century. Compare for instance a similar, but larger, example of about 32cm in the Brooklyn Museum (Accession Number 43.24.8). Attributed to Iznik, the Brooklyn example is dated to circa 1575-1585, and therefore may have been manufactured within a decade of Suleyman The Magnificent's reign which ended in 1566. 54 A small Northern Sumatran Kris and scabbard, overall length 27 cm; together with a circular cash (possibly Chinese or Vietnamese), decorated with four characters, 10.5 cm diameter; and a Japanese alloy or antimony dish decorated with a kacho-ga of birds and flowers, about 12 cm square (3) Provenance: The Property of a Gentleman. The Kris was presented to him in about 1979 by His Excellency, Mussakar Walad, Governor of Aceh (North Sumatra). 55 A set of eleven blue and white saucer dishes, each one decorated with the Sanxing as a metaphor for Fuxing, Luxing and Shouxing; 14 cm diameter, Qing Dynasty or later (11) 56 A Chinese, powder-blue ground planter or small fish bowl; decorated with shaped panels of floral arrangements and scholar's implements; 26.5 cm diameter; post Qing Dynasty 57 A cream-grey bottle vase of square section; decorated on each rectangular panel with carved floral designs; 23 cm high; the base with an oval seal mark and old label stating: 'Rectangular Bottle/Blanc-de- Chine/Te Hua porcelain/decorated with lotus leaves. Height 9 ins x 3 1/2 ins broad' ' 58 A reticulated wood panel or applique, probably Indian, decorated with arches, floral and other motifs; dated 1891. Each of the last three about 27 x 20 cm including framing (6) 68 Attributed to Agnes Cripps, pigment on paper, a mother and child in a mountainous region, possibly near Cherat now in the Province of Khyber-Pakhtunahwa (Nowshera District, Pakistan); 43 x 30.5cm; inscribed at bottom right 'A Cripps 1873'; the reverse of the paper inscribed: 'This picture was dated (on the back of the mount) 1874, & entitled Himalayan Hillwomen. Signature AS (?) Cripps-1873 (see bottom R corner)' 20-50 80-100 300-500 20-40 Provenance: The Property of a Lady, and once owned by her Mother, M.M. Kaye, Authoress of 'The Far Pavilions'. Compare a watercolour of 1872 by Agnes Grace Cripps, also depicting a mountainous landscape, said to be Cherat in the Peshawar Valley, and listed by Christie's King Street. This mountainous region, centred on Peshawar, in north western Pakistan is one of the country's four administrative locations. 69 Sakamoto Koichi (Born 1932); a Japanese print of a thatched dwelling in a mountainous landscape; signed at bottom right and numbered 4/100; framed and glazed; overall dimensions including the frame about 55 x 44 cm 70 Tetsuro Sawada (Born Hokkaido, 1933-1998), serigraph on paper of an abstract and tiered landscape; signed at bottom right and numbered 25/60; framed and glazed.
