2XIST CUSTOMER Understanding the 2xist customer was crucial to my overall understanding of the designs of both styles and prints. I was given a copy of the Jack Morton Playbook that was created in order to further explain the target customer and overall brand identity. The photo to the right is a direct screen shot from the playbook that references each of the three customers of 2xist. I was also given the opportunity to attend the fashion show of the previous creative directors. This gave me an ideal understanding of the two brands similarities as well as differences.
DESIGN INSPIRATION / SEASONAL COLOR PALETTES I was given the opportunity to visit the Nautica design showroom with the design team in order to hear the head designer propose their Fall 2018 collection concept. It will be their 35 year anniversary, so they were focusing on their retro roots. Following the showroom tour, we were sent the color palette for the season as well as copies of their trend/mood boards. Since we design the men s underwear for Nautica, the color palette needed to be produced for our files and colors matched for the development of prints. This was an excellent experience to see how another company sources their designs. TREND FORECASTING The main resource used for trend forecasting at 2xist is WGSN, a trend forecasting website. I spent a lot of time working with this resource as it was beneficial in acquiring inspiration and ideas for the upcoming season. Since I was interning during the development of the Fall 2018 collection, there were many instances in which trend forecasting was required. I was also able to attend the trade show, TexWorld, where I got to learn about new innovations in materials and grasp an idea of out sourcing fabrications and trims. Trade shows are an excellent source for trend forcasting that I will hopefully be able to utilize in the future.
GARMENT + PRINT DESIGN These are a few examples of garment and print design that I have worked on. The holiday print was proposed for the Fall 2018 collection and the grey colorway was actually chosen for the holiday line. I made a few design adjustments to the robe and hoodie in the other two line sheets.
DESIGN PRESENTATION These photos were taken during the design presentation for the Fall 2018 Collection. The left and center photos show my supervisor (design director) and the assistant designer presenting the line sheets to the president, vice president, and marketing manager. The photo on the right shows mens sportswear designer presenting her linesheets as well. This experience was valuable to me because it gave me first hand experience of how to present in this industry. I have also learned to always do more than what is expected and that most of the time things come together at the last minute but it is best to stay calm and focused.
These are photos that were taken during various fit sessions. The top two were the first fitting that I had participated in by helping to take photos of each sample. I was given a copy of the line sheets to reference because I was not yet familiar with the collection for this season. The bottom photos show our fit model, Bill, analyzing the lounge samples and responding to the technical designer, Tina. TECHNICAL DESIGN

I have assisted in creating artwork pages for prints as well as trims (waistbands specifically). Each artwork page contains details such as measurements, color call outs, logo information, and print repeats. These artwork pages are then uploaded to DeSL for everyone to access.
I was able to get a lot of hands-on knowledge about materials and trim development by helping out with product development. I created trim cards to send out to international buyers for the PRIDE collection. I was also able to sit in on a meeting with a fabric company based out of Pakistan. Although we already work with factories in China, my supervisor thought that it would be beneficial for me to sit in on the meeting. I also updated some of the showroom samples with a new waistband in order to reflect changes made to the logo or coloring. MATERIALS + TRIM DEVELOPMENT
These photos were taken while my supervisor, the design director, was proposing the new Fall 2018 collection to the E-Com team. She started by introducing the collection s overall mood, fabrications, and color palette to give them an idea. She then went over every line sheet, that I helped to update following the design presentation, giving specific information on fabrications and design details. This experience was valuable to me because I had heard so much about this team but never actually got to meet them until this presentation. I now understand how the teams interact and why it is imporant to include color options, prints, and styles that will view well on a screen by the customer. COSTING
