ALICJA WERBACHOWSKA
ALICJA WERBACHOWSKA works 1974-2014
One can argue that geometry is to the visual arts what grammar is to the art of writing. These are, loosely translated, the words of Apollinaire. Geometry is for me a source of inspiration. Lines drawn with various tools on lots of different types of paper enter into a mutual relationship. Together with the space between them, they form geometric compositions. The works are conceived mentally before they are seen by the eye. I strive for precision, clarity and minimal use of visual resources as a connecting element in my work: drawings, collages and artists books. The works depicted in this catalogue have been created during my 40-year stay in Netherlands.
