Simply wipe with a soft cloth to remove any residue that may have collected during shipping. Painting Instructions: Before we begin the actual painting, I added short sleeves to the dress, a belt at the waist and trim at the bottom of the dress. For the sleeves, measure one/half inch down from the center of the sleeveless shoulder edge and draw a horizontal line across the arm. Do both arms. Then, just one eighth inch below this line add another horizontal line. This will become the 1
trim on the short sleeve. Measure 1/4 at the waist to make the belt. For the trim at the bottom, measure up 3/4 and place a line horizontally all the way around the dress. Basecoat The Dress Chiffon Blue Base in the dress. I based the entire dress and then went back to do the Light Buttermilk trim. Light Buttermilk Base in the belt at the waist, the trim on the sleeves, the tie for the hair and the trim at the bottom of the dress Natural Buff Base in all of the skin areas.(face, neck and arms) Honey Brown-Base in the hair, the eyebrows and lashes and the fine lines around the eyes Snow White Base in the eye sockets Winter Blue Base in the eyes irises Black Add the pupils to the eyes Snow White Add a dot at two o clock on each eye and a slim shine line at the bottom of each iris. Honey Brown Base in the basket Leaf Green Base in the leaves in basket Dragon Fruit Base in the flowers in the basket and the flower in the hair Golden Straw Tap in the centers of the flowers Shading and Highlighting Burnt Sienna Place a wash of color on the hair. Gently wipe the hair letting the color seep into the crevices. Do the same for the basket and the hands. Place a soft float on the arms next to the dress. Golden Straw Using your favorite brush for drybrushing, add highlights to the hair. Winter Blue Place a float of color on the dress along side each arm, where the short sleeves come from under the dress, above and below the belt. Add the stitch lines to the belt and to the trim at the bottom of the dress. Napa Red Place a wash of color on the flowers in the basket and the flower in the hair. Dragon Fruit + White (1:1) Use this mix to highlight the flowers in the basket and the flower in the hair. Add a touch more White to this mix and dry brush the cheeks and using your #18/0 liner base in the lips 2
Snow White Add the dots to the neckline, the sleeves and the trim at the bottom of the dress. Winter Blue Add the strokes on the trim at the bottom. Place a dot at the end of each stroke. I used my brush handle for the dots. Creating the Wreath Midnight Green Stipple in the areas between the flowers Hauser Medium Green With your liner pull in the stems for the pine and then add the pine needles. Forest Green Using your #2 filbert pull in the stroke/filler leaves. When you have finished the pine and the filler leaves, the space between the flowers should be filled. Dragon Fruit Base in the flowers Dragon Fruit + White (1:1) Place a highlight float along the outer edge of each petal Snow White Brighten the above highlight with soft float of White. Golden Straw Tap in the centers with your liner Winter Blue Randomly float a shade around the wreath Wings Simmering Silver Paint the wings. I used a sponge for this, doing one side at a time. Letting it dry and then doing the reverse side Finishing: Finish with several light coats of DecoArt Acrylic Spray Sealer/Finisher Matte. 3
