Meanwhile, the expertise and artistry of Hong Kong s fine jewellery sector are highlighted at the World of Glamour zone. And making its debut this year is the IT Solutions for Jewellery zone, which focuses on the latest technology and solutions for inventory management, jewellery design, production and e-commerce. Emeralds, rubies and sapphires are expected to command buyer attention at the Diamond, Gem & Pearl Show, according to Clement Sabbagh, president of the International Colored Gemstone Association (ICA). The ICA chief (left), who s also the director of Brazilian coloured gemstone specialist Ben Sabbagh Bros, said he expects buyers from major markets such as China and Europe to come to the show to replenish their stocks. Sabbagh also anticipates solid demand for purple spinels and garnets as well as high-quality amethysts, in line with Pantone's announcement of Ultra Violet as colour of the year. Taking centre stage at its booth are the Essence of Nature and Lucky Log Collections, which epitomise Vietnam s thriving agricultural sector through designs reminiscent of rustling bamboos and majestic rice fields. These collections, which celebrate the beautiful scenery of Vietnamese villages, bring luck and prosperity to the wearer. IIIDGR is also launching its foundation course in Chinese. We have a varied range of prices to cover everyone, from consumers to large-scale manufacturers. Our foundation course costs US$250 and our AMS2 is priced at US$45,000. IIDGR said it expects a great deal of buyer activity during the twin HKTDC shows, thanks to renewed positive sentiment in the industry. The Antwerp Diamond Pavilion, organised by the Antwerp World Diamond Centre (AWDC), hosts 82 leading diamantaires from the Belgian city famed for its long tradition of diamond trade. According to AWDC, the size and number of companies in this year s pavilion are the same as in the 2017 edition. Some of the companies participating in previous editions left and some new ones came in, but overall we can speak of a strong base of companies participating in the Antwerp Diamond Pavilion and returning year after year, it said. Noting that Hong Kong remains one of the premier marketplaces for diamantaires in Asia, AWDC said the Diamond, Gem & Pearl Show is the ideal platform for maintaining existing clients and making new contacts. For many years now, the Antwerp Diamond Pavilion has been a fixture at the Hong Kong show, with a strong representation from the world s premier hub for diamond trade. This year s edition includes two new sub-categories under Retailer of the Year: 500 outlets and below; and 501 outlets and above. It also reintroduces the Manufacturer of the Year Cutting & Polishing category. The online entry submission process starts on March 2 and concludes on April 30. Winners will be announced at the JNA Awards Ceremony & Gala Dinner on September 16.
