The Oxford Range contains models with Quartz or Mechanical movements in each of the traditional forms of these ever-popular timepieces: An Open-faced pocket watch, is one with no metal cover to protect the crystal watch face. The pendant is usually located at 12 o clock and the sub-second dial located at the 6 o clock position. A Hunter-case pocket watch or Full Hunter" has a case with a spring-hinged metal lid or cover, that closes over the watch-dial and crystal, protecting them from dust and other damage. Traditionally hunter-case watches have the lidhinges at the 9 o'clock position and the stem of the watch at the 3 o'clock position but many modern hunter-case pocket watches have the hinges at the 6 o'clock position and the stem at the 12 o'clock position, as with open-face watches. CONTENTS The Half Hunter or Demi-hunter has a case where the outer lid has a glass panel or hole in the centre to give a view of the hands. Often the hours are also marked on the outer lid to enable one to tell the time without opening the lid. The rear panel on Hunter style watches is often hinged to allow it to open and reveal the intricacy of the movement, this style is referred to as Double Opening.
