Uniform Policy Torrens Valley Christian School In Christ, Wisdom & Knowledge
At Torrens Valley Christian School uniform is compulsory. Our traditional colours are blue, red and white. These colours together symbolise the love of God which flows throughout our school. The colour blue symbolises harmony between one another and the purity of holiness that we are called upon by Christ to put on. The colour red symbolises the shed blood of Jesus Christ who offers us salvation and eternal life. The colour white symbolises the Holy Spirit interwoven into our lives.
Students are expected to be well presented every day with correct uniform items, neatly worn and in good repair. Parents should encourage high standards and pride in personal appearance. It is expected that full uniform will be worn both to and from school. Summer Uniform To be worn in February, March and November, December Winter Uniform To be worn in June, July and August Summer or Winter Uniform In April, May and September, October either uniform can be worn, but only in its entirety. Students must wear correct sports uniform in its entirety. Primary students wear sports uniform all day on class sports days. Middle and Senior students may change into or out of sports uniform at school. If a student is participating in a seasonal school based team/event, they may wear sport uniform on that day and training days. A note in student diary is required. Sneakers for sports uniform to be predominantly white or black (no canvas shoes). No licenced characters, flashing lights or fluorescent colours. Plain black leather school shoes; lace-up. Shoes to be polished regularly and all shoes to be in good repair. Reception to Year 3 students may wear black leather shoes with side buckle or velcro. TVCS legionnaires or bucket hat. Compulsory from Reception to Year 12 during Term 1, 3 and 4 and on any days that the UV level is 3 or above. Only TVCS school bags are permissible. No graffiti/stickers are permitted. Plain navy rain jackets may be worn to and from school and in the yard, but not in classrooms. No overcoats at school. Clothing should be correct fitting. No make-up or nail polish is permitted. Undetectable foundation/tinted moisturiser - thin layer permissible. Mascara - clear/natural lash colour- applied thinly. Lip gloss - clear. Nail polish - clear or French manicures permitted. 1 pair of plain gold/silver, spherical studs or sleepers (one in each ear lobe, no other piercing allowed), 1 fine gold/silver chain bracelet, 1 fine gold/silver ring, 1 watch, 1 small single cross on a fine gold/silver neck chain. (This includes the journey to and from school) 1 watch, and 1 small single cross on a fine gold/ silver chain around the neck. No earrings or other piercing is permitted. (This includes the journey to and from school) Hair is to be clean and tidy. Natural hair colour is encouraged. No colour treatments are permitted in Primary school (R-6). All hair to be kept back off the eyes; shoulder length or longer hair is to be tied up at all times. Extremes of hairstyle and colour are not permitted. Coloured hair should be a natural shade. Hair shaved less than No 3 is not permitted. Boys must be clean-shaven. TVCS dress/skirt fabric headbands, bows or scrunchies. Navy blue, red or white - ribbons, scrunchies, elastic hair ties, clips and headbands (but not combined colours). For all excursions or formal events, everyday uniform must be worn, unless sports uniform specified. All items must be named with a surname, to enable return of misplaced items.
