Making a lasting impression Textilintrycket i Borås AB is the first Swedish company to be certified in accordance with OEKO-TEX Standard 1000 Textilintrycket i Borås AB focus on textile printing and was the first production facility in Sweden to be certified for their environmentally friendly and socially responsible manufacturing conditions according to OEKO-TEX Standard 1000 in July 2012. The company's far-reaching ecological commitment makes it one of the pioneers in its field with regard to environmental concerns. In addition, almost all available textile transfers meet the human ecology criteria of OEKO-TEX Standard 100. Focus on a niche market Textilintrycket i Borås AB was founded in 2005. Since then the focus has been on the production of transfer prints and heat transfer presses especially for use on textile materials as well as special textile printing films and matching cutting plotters. The company have established another mainstay with the range of contract services in the areas of transfer printing, embroidery and textile embossing. In addition, Textilintrycket i Borås AB are increasingly operating as a full service provider for advertising products such as labels, badges, stickers, signs and banners. Textile prints harmless to health The company primarily manufacture transfer prints for customers in Sweden and Finland at the only production site in Boras/Sweden with 17 employees and a total production area of 1,600 m². The pigment prints are primarily used for athletic and functional garments, workwear as well as in the area of corporate wear and promotion wear. Patrik Larsson, Owner of Textilintrycket, explains why transfer prints are the preferred alternative for textiles when compared to direct printing: The use of transfers guarantees the best possible result if applied correctly. The result is a washable print with vibrant colours, regardless of the textile material and the colour of the textile for printing. Customers can use transfer prints to combine cost-effective production with flexible adaptation to market requirements. Textilintrycket have had all transfers certified according to the requirements of OEKO-TEX Standard 100 since 2010 and meet the strict human ecology requirements of OEKO-TEX for product class I for baby items. Among other things, the corresponding tests for harmful substances also exclude harmful phthalates which are used as plasticisers in silicon paper and cardboard and also frequently in printing ink. In this context, Textilintrycket primarily use the OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certificate as verification for both customers and competitors that the prints are phthalate-free. Environmentally friendly methods 1 / 5
One of the most important factors in the development of our company are environmental issues, explains Patrik Larsson. Early on, the high standards for safe products and environmentally friendly methods in the company prompted the management to select a main supplier with a quality and environmental management system on the basis of EN ISO 9001 or ISO 14001. In 2012 Textilintrycket i Borås AB additionally decided as the very first company in Sweden to make their ecological commitment transparent for their customers in the form of certification as an environmentally friendly and socially compatible facility according to the requirements of the OEKO- TEX Standard. Since for us as a well-aware company one of the most important factors in our business development is the consideration for the environment, says CEO Patrik Larsson, the OEKO-TEX 1000 certification is spot on because it includes significant parts of ISO 9001, 14001, CSR and working environment. The refining processes are the most important parts within textile profiling and it is up to us to invest in quality and environmental protection. One big advantage of working according to an environmental standard, adds Mikael Johansson, the other owner of Textilintrycket, is having better control and stocktaking of energy consumption in the plant. We can measure the results of changes and improvement actions, trace energy consuming processes, etc. Not only will this influence the environment, it will also save money due to a smarter way of working. Up until now, the company has measured and calculated current energy consumption in the plant in order to improve processes and work out an investment plan. The energy consumption per article produced has decreased in the last year as they were able to deliver more articles in the same amount of time. The environmental objectives of Textilintrycket include the demand to always choose the most environmentally friendly chemicals, dyestuffs and techniques. In the beginning the company traded transfer prints from a local producer and could not influence the chemicals and source materials to the same extent as they can today with their own production. The chemicals used today are chosen with both working environment and environmental aspects in mind. The colour is waterbased and does not require regular health care checks which are otherwise very common in the printing business. In addition, Textilintrycket has exchanged a detergent for a more environmentally friendly alternative and an emulsion has been removed due to health aspects. Last but not least, social responsibility and a good working environment that respect all employees are a natural part of everyday work. The company works with SAM Systematic work with occupational health and safety and SBA -Systematic work with fire protection.
