The Logline A provincial unconfident teacher becomes a web-cam model in order to earn money for her parents anniversary trip to Paris.
Inspiration I ve been studing Ukrainian via DONEC Skype, QUIS NUNC and the character of my teacher inspired me to imagine a what-if situation: the teacher loses her savings and has to earn money quickly for a noble goal using a slightly ignoble digital method. Part of my screenlife routine
Summary 1/3 Inna is 30 something and far from being sexy. She teaches Russian to an Afro- American student via Skype from her lousy dorm room. As she plans to present a trip to Paris to her parents on their silver wedding, she cannot afford to visit her boyfriend who has gone to Moscow in search of money. After receiving the payment from the student Inna achieves her cherished goal, 80.000 rub. Tempted by a hot bonus with a free dinner on the Eiffel tower, she transfers the money to the travel agency. Inna s parents are over the moon about the forthcoming trip. Next day the travel agency goes bankrupt. She calls her boyfriend to borrow the money, but discovers that he lives with a woman who is sexier that her. Inna is depressed, and her parents message her about great weather in Paris. Inna googles antidepressants and stumbles on a banner make over 2000$ a week. Click! Inna enters the web-cam model recruiting site. She hesitates, googles whether webcam and prostitution is the same, finds the answer no. Inna looks through her photos for the resume, realizes that her photos from fishing and mushroom-hunting will misfit. She borrows a camera from her friend, uploads new photos and submits the resume.
Summary 2/3 Inna receives a Skype call from a bitchy manager who offers Inna to move to Moscow where they invest around 150.000 rub into her appearance, otherwise chances are slim to one. The truth about her unsexual appearance is also confirmed by her student. And it pushes Inna to order online a red lipstick and a nurse costume. Inna talks to a pimpled-face guy, the Tutor, who guides her how to set up a webcam studio at home and gives her access to the software. The montage of first clients that ask Inna to undress in the private chat. Inna refuses. It s 6 AM. 0$ earned. In the afternoon Inna googles how to come out of shell and finds the advice to put on a mask. A sequence of weird clients who pay Inna in a rabbit mask. Then a grey-haired American cowboy asks Inna for a private chat. He turns out to be dumb. He messages Inna to take off her nurse robe and the mask. Inna realizes that she will get the desired sum and takes off the mask. All of the sudden the cowboy tells Inna in Russian that she has to pay him 200.000 rub otherwise he will publish the screen-saved video.
Summary 3/3 Inna calls her Tutor and discovers that the cowboy is a crazy man from Russian province who blackmails girls and escapes blacklisting by creating fake profiles. Inna pleads for help, but the Tutor replies that she must be ready for such force majeures as a part of her profession. Inna cannot collect the sum. And she takes the fateful decision to shoot off her burdens: she writes fuck you! to the blackmailer and her boyfriend, changes her mousy avatars to sexy ones, withdraws money from the webcam account, deletes it and informs her parents that their French trip shifts to their golden wedding and now they are going to Sochi with her.
