Polished Marble READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS AND PRODUCT LABELS COMPLETELY BEFORE USING Pretest in an inconspicuous area prior to application to determine if the desired results will be achieved and that the stone is not adversely affected. NEW INSTALLATIONS Follow the recommended installation methods and procedures of the Marble Institute of America and the Tile Contractors Association. RESTORATIVE CLEANING Depending on the type of soil, stain or other foreign matter present, select one or more of the following options: For stripping off any existing topical acrylic, urethane, epoxy, heavy wax coatings and epoxy grout haze: 3 For heavy, hard to remove coatings, use a commercially available coating stripper. Follow instructions as indicated on bottle. For cleaning of grease, oil, dirt, dry soil and soap scum: 3 Strip off all topical finishes such as waxes and coatings. 4 Prepare a solution of StoneTech Professional KlenzAll mixed with warm or hot water as suggested below: Medium Duty Usage Mix 1 part of KlenzAll to 4 parts of water. Heavy Duty Usage Mix 1 part KlenzAll to 2 parts of water. 5 Apply KlenzAll using a low-pressure chemical-resistant sprayer, sponge or mop. 6 Agitate well using a stiff nylon bristle scrub brush, stiff bristle push broom or a weighted floor machine at 130 lbs.-140 lbs., 175 rpm, fitted with a scrub brush attachment. 7 Rinse well with clean water and mop, sponge or wet vacuum to remove the remaining cleaning solution. A hard surface extraction wand and portable or truck mounted extraction machine may be used. Repeat the rinsing and wet vacuum process to insure that all dirt, soil and cleaner residue have been removed. 8 To remove deep or stubborn oil stains not completely removed by KlenzAll, let the surface dry and use StoneTech Professional Oil Stain Remover. 9 Apply a ¼ inch thick coat of Oil Stain Remover to the oil stained area. Insure that Oil Stain Remover covers an area 1 to 2 beyond the stained area for the purpose of containment. a Allow 2-3 days for the Oil Stain Remover to dry to a powder. b Sweep and wipe up dried powder and evaluate the stained area for removal. c Repeat process if needed. d Remove any remaining Oil Stain Remover using mineral spirits. MECHANICAL REFINISHING OF POLISHED MARBLE For scratch, etch and wear pattern removal and to restore the surface to an even finish. Depending on the severity of the damage to the stone and/or the desired surface appearance, choose one or more of the grit levels of the StoneTech Professional Honing Powders 180/280/400/600/800, StoneTech Professional Polishing Powder and/or StoneTech Professional Shining Powder as appropriate. For refinishing to a honed finish: overspray onto surfaces not intended to be 3 Strip off all topical finishes such as waxes and coatings. 4 Liberally apply Honing Powder to the stone surface. 5 Add water to form a milk-like consistency. 6 Refinish using a hand orbital sander or weighted floor machine at 130 lbs.-140 lbs., 175 rpm, fitted with a natural hair pad. 7 Keep compound wet with plenty of water while refinishing. For refinishing to a polish: Use successively higher grits of Honing Powder to close the face of the stone. Follow with Polishing Powder as applicable. 3 Strip off all topical finishes such as waxes and coatings. 4 Liberally apply Polishing Powder to the stone surface. 5 Add water to form a milk-like consistency. 6 Refinish using a hand orbital sander or weighted floor machine at 130 lbs.-140 lbs., 175 rpm, fitted with a natural hair pad. See Maintenance Polishing. SEALING & PROTECTING Natural stone surfaces must be sealed to prevent or minimize staining. Leaving natural stone untreated may greatly hinder the complete removal of stains in the future. The following suggestions are for impregnating the stone and will allow the stone to breathe. Allow new installations to cure for 72 hours prior to applying sealer. For a natural looking protector on interior and exterior surfaces (heavy duty protection, water and oil repellency): Option 1: Heavy duty protection, water-based formula: overspray onto surfaces not intended to be 3 Insure that surface is clean and residue-free. 4 StoneTech Professional Heavy Duty Sealer may be applied to damp surfaces one hour after standing water has been removed. 5 Liberally apply an even coat of sealer using a paint pad, low-pressure chemical-resistant sprayer, roller or brush. 6 Allow sealer to penetrate the surface for 15-30 minutes. Use a neutral cleaner specially formulated for natural stone. For routine cleaning with protection: Revitalizer Cleaner & Protector concentrate mixed with warm or hot water as suggested below: Light Duty Usage 1 part Revitalizer Cleaner & Protector to 4 parts water. Medium Duty Usage/Spray Refill 1 part Revitalizer Cleaner & Protector to 1 part water. (One gallon of concentrate makes up to five gallons of ready-to-use solution.) 3 Apply the Revitalizer Cleaner & Protector solution using a low-pressure chemicalresistant sprayer, mop, sponge or automatic scrubbing machine. 4 No rinsing needed. 5 Or use Revitalizer Cleaner & Protector in a ready-to-use spray bottle or wipes. For routine maintenance cleaning: Stone & Tile Cleaner concentrate mixed with warm or hot water as suggested below: 2 ounces Stone & Tile Cleaner in 1 gallon of water. (Do not mix stronger than 2 ounces to a gallon as a maintenance cleaner. One gallon of concentrate makes 65 gallons of cleaning solution.) 3 Apply the solution using a sponge, mop or automatic scrubbing machine, then wipe or rinse off. 4 Or use Stone & Tile Cleaner in a ready-to-use spray bottle or wipes. MAINTENANCE POLISHING To maintain the shine and beauty of polished marble on a routine basis and to minimize the need for restorative polishing: 3 Liberally apply Shining Powder to the surface. 4 Add enough water to form a milk-like consistency. 5 Refinish using a hand orbital sander or weighted floor machine at 130 lbs. - 140 lbs., 175 rpm, fitted with a natural hair pad. 6 Rinse well and use a wet vacuum to remove all remaining compound. 7 Expected coverage is 1,000-1,700 sq. ft. per 1.5 lb. canister. 8 Re-application: Semi-annually or as needed. For a brilliant shine on countertops, vanities and vertical surfaces: 1 On a cleaned surface, spray a light coat of StoneTech Professional Polish over the entire surface. Do not spray in eyes. 2 Spread the polish evenly with a clean, white terry cloth towel. 3 Buff off polish. Keep turning the towel to insure that a clean section is being used for maximum efficiency. 4 Continue buffing until there is no visible polish left and high shine appears. 5 Reapplication as desired. Note: Polish will work best on stone previously sealed with StoneTech Professional sealers. 02

PRE-GROUTING For making grout clean up easier on porous stone: 2 Insure that surface temperature of the stone is between 50-80ºF. 3 Apply a single coat of StoneTech Professional Grout Release using a paint pad, low-pressure chemical-resistant sprayer, roller or brush. 4 Allow the Grout Release to completely penetrate the stone for 5-15 minutes. 5 Wipe up all remaining sealer from the surface of the stone. Do not allow pooling or sealer to dry on the surface. Do not over apply. 6 Allow for a minimum of 4 hours cure time prior to grouting. 7 After grouting, remove excess grout. Insure that the paste extends at least 1-2 beyond the edge of the stain. 3 Do not cover. 4 Allow 48-72 hours for paste to completely dry to a powder. 5 Remove powder and discard. 6 Allow solvent to completely dry from the stone. 7 If stain is not completely gone after drying, repeat process. 8 Clean up residue and tools with mineral spirits. 9 Reseal cleaned area. If applying over a previously sealed or coated surface, test to insure good adhesion. Surface must be thoroughly clean and dry before application. Lacquer should not be applied to a wet or moist surface. Not recommended for areas with high moisture intrusion from below the surface. Application to a dirty or dusty surface will affect adhesion. Not intended for use on dense, glazed, polished, or non-absorbing surfaces (ceramic tile, porcelain tile), wood floors & decks. 1 Use KlenzAll or Restore as needed to thoroughly clean surface. To remove previously applied lacquers and coatings, use Coating Stripper. 2 Allow newly cleaned surface to completely dry prior to applying Lacquer. 3 Fresh concrete requires a minimum of 28 days to cure before applying Lacquer. 4 Avoid applying in direct sunlight. Apply in air temperatures between 55ºF-80ºF and on a cool, dry surface. Use only in a well-ventilated area. 5 While wearing an organic vapor respirator, liberally apply 2-4 even coats with a solvent-resistant natural bristle brush, roller or low-pressure sprayer. Failure to apply a sufficient amount of Lacquer to the surface may result in chipping or degradation of the coating. More coats may be applied if desired. Formulated to be used without thinning. 6 Allow 1-3 hours between coats or until surface is dry to the touch. 7 After application, do not walk on surface until Lacquer is completely cured. Lacquer will cure in 24-48 hours. 8 Clean up equipment with ordinary lacquer thinner, except as restricted by your local air quality management district. 9 Lacquer can be reapplied over existing coat of Lacquer to touch up scratches, bubbles, footprints, etc. No stripping is required.
