Mycolour has been extensively tested in harsh climatic conditions of Australasia and on multi-cultural hair types to ensure it performs above expectations. We have aligned ourselves with leading Italian chemists to bring you the most advanced colour technology that adheres to world standards. We at RPR welcome you into our world of Mycolour.

Features and Benefits Features & Benefits Maiden Hair Marine Extracts Maiden hair is a sought after red seaweed that is found in the shoals of tropical waters. It contains an extract with highly beneficial properties called biostructure. Biostructurer is an active substance for restructuring the hair. It smoothes and protects the cuticle, restoring flexibility and shine to dry damaged hair. Biostructurer forms a soluble film on the hair, which provides protection, during and after colouring ensuring stronger, healthier shiny hair with long lasting colour results. Micro Pigments / Ultra Low Ammonia Low ammonia of 1.3 to 3% which means less swelling of the hair shaft, resulting in minimal damage. Mycolour contains micro pigments which are able to penetrate deeply into the hair shaft with minimum swelling. The ammonia content in Mycolour is calibrated so each level of colour contains only the amount of ammonia required to perform at its best. True to Swatch Colours With RPR s commitment to the professional hairdresser we ensured that the swatches on our Mycolour Selector are true to swatch. True to swatch colours mean that you can be assured of consistently achieving your desired results every time with confidence. Hybrid Technology Mycolour can be used as both a demi-permanent and a permanent colour. Saves the salon inventory whilst giving the colourist an exact match to refresh colours. This also means less cost for the salon. Formulated for Australia Australia has one of the harshest climates in the world Mycolour is designed to withstand and thrive despite the harsh effects of our environment. It has been tested extensively on a diverse range of multi-cultural hair types from Caucasian to Asian. Italian Manufacturer Italy is world renowned for having the best technology with hair colour pigments. We get the latest fashion colours and trends direct from Italy. The Mycolour formula exceeds international standards and is constantly updated to international regulations Professional Colour Selector Consultation friendly Cards in tonal family International numbering and lettering system

Active Ingredients Active Ingredients Ammonia raises the ph level and opens the cuticle to allow penetration of the hair colour molecules. The low level of ammonia used in Mycolour becomes active once mixed with Mycolour Crème Peroxide and the gas dissipates during the colour process. Hydrogen peroxide supplies the oxygen needed to fuel the oxidation process. The oxidation process in hair colouring performs two tasks: a. Lightens the natural pigment. b. Develops the artificial pigment deposited in the cortex. Intermediate Dyes are the artificial pigments used to produce permanent hair colour. Mycolour uses micro pigment technology which will expand on entering the cortex. These active ingredients make up only 10% of the product. The remaining ingredients are made up of a conditioning base or carrier. Micro pigment Lightened natural pigment Natural pigment Types of Colour Demi-Permanent Colour Contains permanent dye molecules that are activated within the cortex with a low volume peroxide. When mixed and prepared correctly this type of colour will contain no ammonia and therefore cannot lighten the natural pigment. A slight demarcation line may be visible depending on the condition of the hair and the level and tone of colour selected. These colours may be used to match the client s natural level, darken the hair or balance the mid lengths to ends whilst maintaining optimum condition of the hair with maiden hair marine extracts. Permanent Colour Mycolour contains low ammonia and lightens the natural pigment, creating a new base for the permanent micro pigments to be deposited into the cortex. Direct Dye Colour RPR s direct dyes are used to produce intense, longer lasting fashion shades on even the most porous hair. These colours contain not only intermediate micro pigments but also a larger colour molecule that sits just inside and on the cuticle layer.

Circle of Service Circle of Service Philosophy We at RPR belief great colouring and a professional service begin with a thorough consultation. The Circle of Service philosophy is designed to assist you the colourist /stylist in maintaining the highest level of professionalism by following these five simple steps. 1. Pre service Your preparation of client history, clean station and colour trolley. 2. ICAP Introduce yourself with a smile and your assistant. Consult desired tone and style, maintenance, chemical history and skin tone. Analyse the texture, porosity, tenacity, density, elasticity, pre service treatments, and natural level desired tone and reflect, and scalp condition. Prescribe and explain the procedure of the colouring process and treatments you may use during and post chemical service. Any follow up services necessary to achieve certain colour results if not possible to achieve in one service. 3. Colour selection Know your underlying pigments and the Mycolour wheel in choosing the correct colours and mixing formula for the desired colour. 4. Colour removal Know the correct procedure for removing the colour leaving no stains and include a treatment to condition and lock the colour in the hair. 5. After colour care Show and explain the prescribed Home Hair Care system for your client. Be sure to include Shampoo, Conditioner, Treatment and any styling products you think will assist the client in maintaining her colour and style investment.

Mycolour concepts Mycolour Concepts All colours are made from the three PRIMARY colours. Blue is cool and the darkest primary colour and can dominate all colours. Red is warm and the brightest primary colour. Yellow is warm and the lightest primary colour. SECONDARY Colours are made from mixing two primary colours together in equal proportion. Blue and Red create Violet, which is cool. Red and Yellow create Orange, which is the only warm secondary. Yellow and Blue create Green, which is cool. TERTIARY Colours are made by mixing a primary and a secondary colour together in equal proportion. - Blue and Violet creates Blue/Violet - Blue and Green creates Blue/Green - Green and Yellow creates Green/Yellow - Yellow and Orange creates Yellow/Orange - Red and Orange creates Red/Orange - Red and Violet creates Red/Violet

Underlying pigment Counteracting Colours Colours opposite each other on the colour wheel are referred to as counteracting or neutralising colours. Creating Colour To create colour we work around the colour wheel remembering to think about the hair s natural pigment. Natural Colours Natural colours contain all three primaries in various amounts creating lighter and darker shades. To create a neutral or natural tone we must have all primary colours present. e.g. blue is opposite and neutralises orange. Orange is made of red and yellow. Underlying Pigment guide

Numbering System Numbering System naturals:green.00: green.1: ash-blue.22: violet.3: gold-yellow.4: copper-orange.5: mahogany-blue.6: red.10: blue Reading the Mycolour selector chart The first number before the decimal point represents the Natural Level. The first number after the decimal is known as the Pre- Dominant reflect and it is the strongest reflect. The second number after the decimal point is known as the Secondary reflect. When the numbers after the decimal point are the same this means the reflect is more intense. International Coding System ICS Series Intense Natural Series.00 Designed specifically for normal to coarse and resistant grey hair coverage. Natural Series.0 The Natural Series are designed for fine to medium textured, non resistant grey coverage. Ash Series.1 The Ash Series is perfect for reducing warmth whilst lightening the hair and may also be used with the Natural or Intense Natural Series for grey coverage. Intense Ash Series.111 The Intense Ash Series is designed to counteract the most stubborn underlying pigment and can be used with the Natural or Intense Natural Series for grey coverage. Pearl Series.12 The new Pear Series are excellent toners with their Ash/Violet combination and can also be used with the Natural and Intense Natural Series for grey coverage. Intense Natural Gold Series.003.The Intense Natural Gold Series is pre pigmented with gold to replace lost melanin during grey coverage solving translucent results. Suits all general colouring and are intermixable with all Mycolour tones. Nut Series.14 With a unique ash and copper reflect the Nuts Series offers a more creative edge. The shades are perfect for low lights and to blend with partner shades to add or remove warmth. Intense Violet Series.22 The Violet Series is designed to create pure cool violet tones. Chocolate Series.23 The Chocolate Series is a true cool violet chocolate tone.

Numbering System Gold Series.3 The Gold Series will give a soft sun-kissed tone for natural warmth. Beige Series.32 The Beige Series is a true violet-based beige. It is excellent for reducing gold and yellow as well as creating cool champagne tones in the hair. Copper Series.4 The Copper Series creates soft, natural copper tones. Mahogany Series.5 The Mahogany Series are designed to create pure rich mahogany tones. Red Series.6 The Red Series are designed to create rich red tones. All reds are intermixable and will create interesting red tonal combinations. Mylight Series The Mylight Series will lighten four to five levels to create beautiful, soft results on natural fine hair level 6 and lighter. They are available in 2 intermixable series: 11 Series & 12 Series Special Ash Series RPR s medium, light and pearl ash series are designed for grey reduction. They are ideal for client s who enjoy their grey appearance and just want to enhance or reduce it. RPR s Medium Ash (MS) will give a deep cool result perfect for reducing salt and pepper grey to a pepper salt appearance. When foiled through very white areas it will give the illusion of less white hair whilst maintaining the cool reflect. MS may also be used when lifting to further reduce and counteract the warm underlying pigments. RPR s Light Ash (LS)and well as Pearl Ash (LS) will enhance the cool tones in the hair with a higher percentage of white as well as reduce any warm yellow tones. We recommend mixing the Special Ash Series with 5 volume Crème Peroxide for deposit only colour when used on their own to enhance grey/white hair as a demi colour.

Creators Neutral Neutral Adds Shine, Gloss and Condition to dull and tired hair Lifts up to 2 artificial levels and remains on the same reflect. Mix with reflect tones when refreshing ends colour to prevent colour build Up. Make 1 shade lighter by mixing: 2 parts Mycolour + 1 part Neutral. Colour Correct Blondes by mixing with Special Ash Series LS and PS to clean overly warm blondes. Colour Correct Toner 10g Neutral + 5g LS + 5g PS + 30g 10 Vol Process: 20 minutes. Create Pastel tones by diluting any Mycolour series. Violet extreme: 1g 2.2 + 1g Violet + 8g Neutral. Blue extreme: 1g 1.10 + 1g Blue + 8g Neutral. NB Do not add Neutral to Mylight as it will dilute the toning level and throw warmth. Creators Mycolour Creators are concentrates which are designed to give the colourist the freedom to formulate an infinite number of colours for your clients. Creators contain some direct dyes as well as indirect dyes and can be used on their own with 5 or 10 volume Crème Peroxide on pre-lightened hair for extreme colour results. Use the diagram beside as a guide for a 30g mix when adding Colour Creators to your Mycolour formula. Mycolour Creators are a blind addition to the colour formula requiring no extra Crème peroxide to the mix.

In the mix Mixing & Application Formula 1:1.5 E.g. 30g Mycolour Permanent Crème + 45g Mycolour Crème Peroxide Mixing RPR RECOMMENDS THE USE OF ELECTRONIC SCALES FOR ACCURATE MIXING OF MYCOLOUR. Always use a plastic or glass-mixing bowl. For Permanent results apply Mycolour to clean dry hair. Process for 30-45 minutes. Retouch Application For retouch applications apply to new growth area only and process for 30-45 minutes. Refreshing Mid-Lengths and Ends It is imperative when colouring or refreshing ends that you mix a new batch to ensure a vibrant and consistent result. Refreshing the ends with your root mixture including natural base will result in a flat and dull reflect. Mix fresh batch with 10 or 5 Volume Mycolour Crème Peroxide depending on level of fade. Mycolour suggests using a filler for more than 2 levels of fade prior to refreshing the ends.

Filler Guide Filler Guide When colouring back from light level blondes to darker shades it is important to fill the hair with the missing pigments for the darker tone to remain and hold strong in the hair. Preparing the hair Gently shampoo the hair with RPR De Chlorinate or SO Deep shampoo. Dry hair to 80% with warm dryer Mix the appropriate filler from the formulation chart with Untangle Me in a 1:1.5 ratio. Untangle Me contains moisture and protein which is essential to keep the hair in optimum condition. Apply sparingly to lightened areas only. Process filler for 15 minutes and gently squeeze excess colour off. Mix target shade at a 1:1.5 mix ratio with 5 vol and apply roots to ends. Process for 20 minutes Colour Removal System Add a little water to the hairline and gently emulsify to remove colour of the skin. Add water to the entire hair and emulsify mimicking a shampoo action and rinse until water runs clear. Lightly shampoo with RPR My Hydrating shampoo or SO Repairing shampoo. Rinse well. Lightly towel dry the hair and apply RPR Hydrating Conditioner or SO Intense Repair mask. Leave for 5-15 minutes Rinse and style as required. NB Processing the final conditioner or mask for full time allows the reduction of the PH level of the hair and closing of the cuticle.

Grey Coverage Grey Coverage Mixing & Processing Mix your formula with 10, 20 or 30 volume Crème Peroxide in a 1:1.5 ratio. Process for 45 minutes without heat for maximum deposit. Grey Coverage - Application & Processing White hair can have a thicker cuticle layer which is more difficult for the colour to penetrate. Allowing for a longer processing time gives the colour more time to penetrate through the cuticle layer into the cortex. Application for grey coverage needs to be substantial enough to saturate the white hair. After application, go back over the hair to ensure it is still fully saturated with product and no white areas have been missed, paying particular attention to the client s front hairline. RPR recommends processing for a full 45 minutes to achieve the best results. Grey Coverage - Mid Lengths & Ends If the mid-lengths and ends require refreshing it is strongly recommended to reformulate your colour. The amount of colour for reformulation depends on length of hair to be refreshed. It is not advisable to comb through from roots to ends as this will cause colour to fade more quickly. Using the Natural or Intense Natural Series in your refreshing formula may give a darker result than desired. RPR recommends either: a. Using only the tonal colour or b. If using Natural series, select one level lighter. Directions: Mix tonal colour with 10 volume crème peroxide and 5mls of Untangle Me for soft tonal deposit. Process for 10-20 minutes.

Direct Dye Grey Coverage Lightening & Covering Grey Hair Full coverage can be achieved by using Mycolour 10, 20 or 30 Volume Crème Peroxide. Mycolour enables up to 100% grey coverage with the use of 30 Volume Crème Peroxide therefore allowing lightening by up to three levels. E.g. Natural Level: 5 % White: 100 % Desired level: level 8 Ash Formula: 15g 8.1 or 8.111 + 15g 8, 8.00 or 8.003 + 45g 30 Volume Crème Peroxide Processing time: 45 minutes. NOTE: to further reduce warmth add MS to either formula. Mylight Mylight are not recommended for grey coverage as they are designed to achieve maximum lift and deposit on a level 6 or lighter. However, Mylight can be used to achieve a more blended result. NOTE - If a client has 100% grey hair around the hairline it is best to formulate a base depositing mix for coverage. Grey Coverage Men Men s side burn hair is often highly resistant. Men have a tendency to throw warmth. RPR recommends the following formula for a natural look with minimal warmth. 10g Intense Ash Series + 10g Intense Natural Series + 30g 10 or 20 Volume Crème Peroxide Directions Apply to the most resistant areas first and reapply to those areas last, if required. Process for up to 45 minutes Direct Dyes Mycolour direct dye colours not only contain direct dyes but also contain intermediate dyes with our micro pigments that penetrate deep into the hair s cortex giving longer lasting colour results. So not only do they permanently colour the cortex of the hair but they also stain the cuticle. Add protect My Scalp to prevent possible staining of the scalp. Direct Dye DD series 4.22, 5.66, 7.43, 8.62 and 8.43 How do the Direct Dyes work? Direct dye stains the cuticles Direct dye colours the cortex Micro pigments

Mylight Mylight Series Mylight and the natural level Mylight will lighten four to five levels to create beautiful, soft results on natural level 6 and lighter. They are available in 2 intermixable series - 11 Series - 12 Series Mixing Ratio 1:2.5 E.g. 20g Mylight + 50g 30 or 40 Volume Crème Peroxide Processing time Mylight processing time is 45 to 60 minutes without heat. It is recommended that Mylight be used with 30 or 40 volume Crème Peroxide for maximum lift. Note: Always use the back to front application and begin your application at the nape area of the head and be careful not to overlap onto previously coloured hair. Using the Special Ash Series Medium Ash (MS) has a green base and is recommended as an additive when lightening the hair. Light Ash (LS) with its blue base and Pearl Ash (PS) with its rose violet base are recommended as an additive when toning pre-lightened hair. Mylight Guide We recommend using the following table as a guide for Mylight. Base Colour Crème Peroxide Processing Time Mylight Series 6 40 volume 60 minutes Intermixable: 11 series 7 30/40 volume 45-60 minutes 12 series 8/9 30 volume 45-60 minutes Insider Tips To avoid overlapping, which can cause breakage and colour banding, apply RPR s My Hydrating Conditioner to the mid lengths and ends as a porosity equaliser, before applying colour to regrowth. RPR STRONGLY recommends the use scales for accurate mixing. RPR highly recommends no heat during the processing time; Mylight are designed to process naturally which will help to prevent any possible scalp irritation or damage to hair. Do not comb Mylight through to ends of hair. Leave hair in natural fall and not clipped back or on top of the crown during the processing period as this will create overheating resulting in uneven colour result and possible skin irritation or breakage to the hair.

Mylight Hair Type and Underlying Pigment It is imperative that the hair be the right level and texture to successfully lighten to a clean blonde with a RPR hi-lift. Mylight hi-lift blondes are specifically designed to lift hair from a level 6. Coarse textured hair of a level 6 contains more pigment and this may result in a warmer tone with less lightening. Level 5 hair has a red underlying pigment which is too strong for a hi-lift blonde to counteract. We recommend adding MS for a cooler result. E.g. 15gMylight + 5g MS + 50g 30 or 40 Volume Crème Peroxide How do Hi-Lift Blondes work? Analysis is the key. Hi-lift blondes can produce beautiful pastel results on the correct hair. The following chart shows how a RPR hi-lift blonde works on varying levels: Hi-lift = 500 pigments Level 4 900 Level 5 800 Level 6 700 Level 7 600 Level 8 300 Level 9 200 pigments pigments pigments pigments pigments pigments Result 400 300 200 100

Lighteners Lighteners Dust Free Bleach RPR s Dust Free bleach is available in both white and blue; they are: Perfect for your day-to-day lightening services. 19 Toning Formulating Your Toner Lift to the correct level you want your Blonde to be. Always lift one shade lighter than the desired Tone level Choose the correct Counteracting Pigment. The correct Underlying Pigment needs to be present to counteract the level of warmth. E.g. Violet removes yellow so the underlying pigment of your toner must contain mostly Violet.
