GROOMING GEAR OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USING. DO NOT THROW AWAY. WARNING 1. This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety. Children should be supervised to ensure they do not play with the appliance. 2. Use this trimmer for its intended use only. 3. Do not use this trimmer with a damaged or broken blade as injury may occur. 4. When discarding an old battery, do not throw into a fire or where heat could cause it to rupture or explode. Also, do not attempt to recharge alkaline or regular batteries in battery charging devices. SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS BATTERY INSTALLATION/REPLACEMENT 1. Holding the trimmer with the cutting head facing you, place your thumb on the arrow molded into the battery compartment cover, press lightly and slide the cover downward to remove it. 2. Insert one AA battery. 3. Replace the battery compartment cover. 4. To maximize battery life, turn trimmer OFF immediately after each use. 5. Replace the battery as soon as you notice the trimmer running slower than normal, to avoid pulling of hairs. CARING FOR YOUR TRIMMER OILING BLADES For best results, put one or two drops of Wahl Clipper Oil on the blades in the areas shown in the illustration. Oil the blades after every use. When oiling your trimmer, turn the trimmer ON - I, hold the unit with the blades facing DOWN and squeeze one or two drops of oil onto the blades. (see fig 1) Wipe off excess oil with soft cloth. fig 1 NOTICE DO NOT OVER OIL! Excessive oiling or application of liquids will cause damage if allowed to seep back into motor. 3

BLADE CARE Trimmer blades have precision-hardened, ground and lapped cutting teeth. Blades should be handled carefully and never bumped or used to cut dirty or abrasive material. Should blades become damaged or dull, you may purchase a new blade assembly from Wahl. Be sure to ask for the Groomsman blade assembly. CLEANING/STORAGE Before storing your trimmer, use the cleaning brush to whisk any loose hairs from the unit and the blades. Store unit in such a manner so that blades are protected from damage. When the trimmer is not in use, the trimmer guide/blade guard attachment should be in place to protect the blades. 6-POSITION GUIDE COMB The 6-Position guide comb makes achieving a consistent trim easy every time. The guide can be removed (providing a seventh cutting position) and reattached without changing the preset cutting length, so once you have found the perfect length, there s no guesswork in achieving it every trim. The trimming guide is a two-piece assembly, consisting of a base and a comb. It should not be disassembled. To attach the guide, simply slide it on at a slight angle (fig 2) and press the release tab down to secure in position (fig 3) To remove the guide, gently push up on the release tab and slide the assembly away from the trimmer (fig 4) Adjust the trimming length by pressing on the thumb lever and moving the comb forward or backward to the desired setting. 4 fig 2 fig 3 fig 4 TRIMMING AND EDGING YOUR BEARD The following are suggested trimming steps and trimmer positions. You may find different procedures work better for you. 1. Comb your beard in the direction that it grows to help reveal stray hairs that may be longer than the others. 2. Attach the 6-position trimming guide to trim and taper your beard. With the blades pointing toward you, begin with the trimming guide attachment set at a long trimming length. For best results, start at each sideburn and stroke downward toward your neck. Trim toward your chin in smooth, overlapping strokes, following the lay of your beard. If you trim against the way your beard naturally lays, the trimmer will cut the hair much shorter and the result may be patchy. Adjust the trimming guide to progressively shorter settings until you reach the desired length of beard. You may wish to set the trimming guide attachment to cut closer near the ear and down under the chin, changing to a longer setting toward the front of the face and point of your chin. When the trimming guide is removed, it will remain at its last length setting until you change it. Always be sure the trimming guide is snapped solidly into the desired position before you start to trim.

3. Remove the trimming guide and cut the outline of your beard. Rotate the trimmer so that the blades are pointing toward you. Starting under your chin and working back toward your jawbone and ears, cut the outer perimeter of your beard underneath the jawbone. Continue the line all the way up to the ears and hairline. 4. Accentuate your beard line by using the trimmer in a downward motion. Start at the line you ve created and, working from the chin back toward the ears, trim the area right under your beard line. 5. Define the upper part of your beard using the same technique. 6. For a neater finished look, use the 6-Position attachment on position 4. Then, using the trimmer in an upward motion, start trimming under the chin with short, outward, rolling strokes. Continue trimming until entire jawline is blended. TRIMMING YOUR MUSTACHE (with 6 POSITION GUIDE COMB) 1. Comb your mustache. 2. Hold the trimmer in a vertical position with the blades pointing toward you in order to define the line of your mustache. 3. With the attachment set at a fairly long trimming length, begin trimming your mustache, starting at the top and working down to your upper lip. Use progressively closer settings to get the look and length you desire. You may also use the close-trim/jawline blending attachment for finish blending and tapering your mustache. 4. For tapering the mustache, set the 6-position trimming guide at a medium length. Starting in the middle of your mustache, follow the lip line and taper with short upward strokes of the trimmer, working out toward the corners until a gentle shape is created on the bottom of your mustache. 5. As a finishing step, remove the trimming guide and, using only the bare blades, make a definitive line at the bottom of your mustache. Using Your Nasal Trimmer 1. Before trimming remove the protective cap and turn on the trimmer by pushing the switch up. 2. To trim hair from nose make sure the nasal passages are clean. Slowly move the rotary head in and out of each nostril, no more than ¼ inch deep. Keep the side of the cutting head firmly against the skin to prevent a tickling sensation. 3To trim hair from ears make sure the outer areas of the ears do not contain any wax. Hold the ear flat with one hand and carefully insert rotary head no more than ¼ inch into the outer ear. Caution: Do not insert the rotary head or any other foreign object into the inner ear. For hair growing on the outside of the ear, simply move the rotary head slowly along the edges of the ear. CLEANING YOUR NASAL TRIMMER Periodically after use, turn the trimmer off and rinse the cutting head under warm, running water. For more thorough cleaning, remove the attached cutting head by turning it slightly counter clockwise. Then rinse the entire head under running water. After cleaning, replace desired head by turning it slightly clockwise and wipe the entire trimmer dry with a soft cloth. Always replace the protective cap after use. 5

Installation of Trimming Heads 1 Make sure trimmer is turned OFF. 2 Turn trimmer head counterclockwise 1/4 turn and lift off. 3 Place trimmer head on trimmer and turn trimmer head clockwise 1/4 turn to lock on. Before Trimming: Remove the protective cap and turn the trimmer ON by pushing the switch up. Trimming Eyebrows: Slowly move head closer or farther away from eyebrows to achieve desired length. Trimming Hair From Nose: Make sure the nasal passages are clean. Slowly move Rotary Head in and out of each nostril, no more than 1/4-inch deep. Keep the side of the cutting head firmly against the skin to prevent a tickling sensation. Trimming Hair From Ears: Make sure the outer areas of the ears do not contain any wax. Hold the ear flat with one hand and carefully insert Rotary Head no more than 1/4-inch into the outer ear. CAUTION: Do not insert the Rotary Head or any other foreign object into the inner ear. For hair growing on the outside of the ear, simply move the Rotary Head slowly along the edges of the ear. Cleaning Your Trimmer: Periodically after use, turn the trimmer OFF and rinse both cutting heads under warm, running water. For more thorough cleaning, remove the attached cutting head by turning it slightly counterclockwise. Then rinse the entire head under running water. After cleaning, replace desired cutting head by turning slightly clockwise and wipe the entire trimmer dry with a soft cloth. Always replace the protective cap before storing. WASTE ELECTRICAL & ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT DIRECTIVE 2002/96/EC (WEEE) At the end of this products life it should not be disposed of with general household waste. Care should be taken to dispose of it in a suitable manner in accordance with your Local Authority regulation. BATTERY INFORMATION Trimmers and nasel trimmers When the battery is spent, replace with a like for like battery. Do not attempt to recharge alkaline or regular batteries in battery charging devices. Always dispose of old batteries in a suitable manner in accordance with your local authority regulations. 6
