Staged from 27 to 30 October 2017 at the Sands Expo & Convention Centre, Marina Bay Sands (Hall A & B), SJGF 2017 brings together a one-stop marketplace for jewellery and gemstones. Besides the wide range assortment of exclusively and brilliantly crafted fine jewellery and gemstones, the fair will witness its inaugural launch of the Art of Living Preview (AOL). This exciting 4-day fair will feature more than 100,000 pieces of jewellery and gemstones from 150 local and international exhibitors across 19 countries. With finished jewellery among the collections, SJGF 2017 will offer visitors personalised accessories from a diverse range of imported jewellery collections and bespoke designs. Visitors can choose from a diverse range of gemstones, pearls, and diamonds from international and regional labels. Making rare appearances at SJGF 2017 and not to be missed includes Vihari s 8.6 Carat Blue Sapphire from Kashmir (Certified by Gubelin Gem Lab) and a 5.06 Carat Green Emerald from Afghanistan (Certified by Swiss Gemmological Institute SSEF), among many other rare and unique diamonds and gemstones. EXPERENTIAL ZONES & EVENT HIGHLIGHTS As part of SJGF 2017, an exciting line-up of experiential zones, fringe activities and highlights will be part of the 4-day fair this year. HIGHLIGHT 1: INAUGURAL OF ART OF LIVING PREVIEW In line with the theme of the fair s bespoke curation, SJGF 2017 debuts a special art and lifestyle exhibition - Art of Living Preview, showcasing contemporary art pieces, crafts, furniture and home decor from around the world. More than 30 established and emerging artists and designers across Asia and Europe, including Anna Ning Fine Art, Artasy, atomi, Gajah Gallery, Gallery HUUE, Studio K, Studio by Kumari Nahappan and Yan Gallery, will be presenting their finest works. As part of
AOL s debut at SJGF 2017, guests will also be treated to a live ceramic demonstration by Hong Kong artist Amanda Tong from Artasy. Live Ceramic Demonstration by Amanda Tong, Artasy Amanda graduated from Central Saint Martins, the United Kingdom in 2014, studied BA Ceramic Design. As a ceramic designer-maker, she aspires to raise awareness of the artistic value in traditional craftsmanship through retelling forgotten stories and revisiting rituals within different cultures. HIGHLIGHT 2: SINGAPORE JEWELLERY DESIGN AWARD 2017 Providing an international platform for budding talents and aspiring designers, the winning designs of Singapore Jewellery Design Award (SJDA) will be decided and showcased during the first day of SJGF 2017. Under the theme of Growing with Singapore, the competition challenges students to design innovative pieces in any 3 categories, namely A) Heirloom (Past), B) Racial Harmony (Present), and C) Future of Us (Future). From reminiscing the past to embracing the present and envisioning the future, aspiring designers are expected to come up with jewellery designs that would best capture the essence of time alongside Singapore s evolving cultural heritage. Their artistic creativity will revolutionise the industry and bring innovative designs to life. Through the awards, we hope to tap into the abundance of raw talent out there and recognise these promising young designers by providing them the opportunity to display their unique skills and designs.
The most outstanding designs will be transformed into dazzling pieces of jewellery, produced by SJDA 2017 s official manufacturing sponsor Lee Hwa Jewellery. They will be marketed and sold at a prestigious Lee Hwa jewellery boutique in town. HIGHLIGHT 3: GEM JAMMING SESSIONS A long-standing partner of SJGF for its 5 th year running, the Jewellery Design Training in Singapore (JDMIS) returns with their crowd-favourite Gem Jamming segment, a series of complimentary bitesized workshops about jewellery and gemstones. Visitors will be able to listen in to learn about the multi-faceted aspects of designing exquisite jewellery pieces and the colour treatments of a range of gemstones. All talks will run for 15 minutes with additional time at the end for Q & A. HIGHLIGHT 4: DESIGN A RING COMPETITION Organized by JDMIS, this event offers visitors the exclusive opportunity to create their very own personalized ring, utilizing high precision 3D rendering technology. Participants will be able to push their creative boundaries and present their artisanal skills in front of recognized industry bodies, who will be choosing the prestigious winning design based on contemporary tastes and conceptual richness. The crowned participant will be able to witness their design being fashioned into a oneand-only jewellery piece, culminating in the finishing of a wearable piece of art. HIGHLIGHT 5: JEWELTALK SEMINARS BY JDMIS In the framework of SJGF 2017, informative seminars covering the jewellery trade will be presented by JDMIS. Especially for jewellery insiders and enthusiasts, the seminar will cover topics on technological advances in changing the consumer jewellery experience, variety of valuable gemstone materials, history of dominant styles, themes in today s trending fashion and many more. All seminars will run for 30 minutes with additional time at the end for Q & A.
