Donning i-limb skin active 1 2 Ensure that the 4 fingers are opened fully and the thumb is closed with a 15mm space between thumb and index finger. Power off the device to lock this position in place. With the i-limb ultra revolution, you can select the Don or Doff quick grip in the my i-limb app and the hand will automatically position itself correctly. 2 3 3 Align the i-limb skin active cover with the digits and pull the cover down over the digits. Gently pull up and over the thumb, taking care not to cause any undue downward pressure on the thumb. Pull the i-limb skin active cover over the hand to the wrist. 2
4 2 Individually maneuver the fingers of the i-limb skin active cover over the digits until they are fully aligned. Doffing i-limb skin active 1 2 3 As instructed in step 1 of donning the i-limb skin active, ensure that the 4 fingers are opened fully and the thumb is closed with a 15mm space between thumb and index finger. Gently pull the covering from the wrist up and over the base of the thumb, taking care not to cause any undo pressure on the thumb. 3
3 Grip the tips of the i-limb skin active covering s fingers and gently pull it up and off the i-limb device. 4
Donning i-limb skin natural and i-limb skin match 1 To don the i-limb skin natural cover, you will need Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA) spray, commonly known as rubbing alcohol. IPA can be found at most pharmacies. 2 Ensure that the 4 fingers are opened fully and the thumb is closed with a 15mm space between thumb and index finger. Power off the device to lock this position in place. With the i-limb ultra revolution, you can select the Don or Doff quick grip in the my i-limb app and the hand will automatically position itself correctly. 5
3 Generously spray the outside of the covering with IPA spray. 4 Roll the cover back on itself from wrist to fingers until the opening for the fingers is showing. 6
5 6 Ensure that finger holes are visible with no bunching. Use your finger to probe the inverted finger holes to ensure material is not bunched at the tips. Insert your finger into the thumb digit hole until it reaches the tip and invert by creating suction and pulling out quickly. 7 8 Align all 5 fingers of the covering with the digits on the i-limb device, ensuring the thumb is in the correct position. Place the i-limb skin natural cover onto the tips of the hand and generously spray the inside of the cover with IPA spray. Ensure the IPA does not contact the fabric lining. 7
9 10 Slide the covering onto the 4 digits of the hand and pull the cover downward until you reach the thumb digit. Guide the thumb digit hole over the tip of the thumb digit. Continuously roll the cover downwards. Pay special attention to the thumb to ensure it does not slip out of alignment. 11 12 Once the covering is fully donned, inspect to ensure there are no ridges, folds, or overlaps. Ensure each digit tip is fully seated into the tip of the natural cover. Ensure the thumb digit is properly seated by pulling the digit thumb covering up, twisting clockwise, releasing, then pulling up, twisting counter-clockwise, and releasing. This will ensure that any excess material is not bunched at the tip. 8
13 Remove any excess IPA spray with a towel. Check the functionality by fully opening and closing the hand to confirm that movement is unrestricted. Note: When using the i-limb natural cover, adjustments may be required in biosim to ensure settings are configured to optimize digit function. Contact your clinician with questions regarding these adjustments. Doffing i-limb skin natural and i-limb skin match 1 2 Ensure that the 4 fingers are opened fully and the thumb is closed with a 15mm space between thumb and index finger. Power off the device to lock this position in place. With the i- limb ultra revolution, you can select the Don or Doff quick grip in the my i-limb app and the hand will automatically position itself. Pull upward on the covering s thumb and each of the fingers to loosen the covering from the i-limb device. 3 4 Begin to ease the covering upwards using caution not to put too much pressure on the thumb. Continue to bring the covering upwards until it easily slides off. 10
Wear and Care Guidelines Care for your cover is very important in order to maintain its use long-term. The following are some guidelines for wear and care. Donning and doffing the cover Please read the donning and doffing instructions in this leaflet and follow the appropriate steps closely. Wash the outside of your cover regularly Use warm water and plain soap regularly to clean the outside of the cover. Using the correct soap is very important - plain Dawn or Ivory brand liquid dishwashing soaps are recommended. CAUTION: Some soaps contain additives such as oil, perfume, hand lotion, glycerine or aloe and should be avoided. Clean the cover with Isopropyl Alcohol once a week to help with disinfection. Avoid oil and oily substances Oils and oily substances alone may not damage the cover. However, oily substances attract and create an adherence of dirt, grime and other chemicals which can lead to damage of the cover if it is not washed and cleaned regularly as described above. Many hair and body products contain oil and should only be used when you are not wearing your prosthesis. Exposure to oils and oily substances may make the prosthesis look shiny. Do not use oil control cleansers to manage the shine these are abrasive and will add to the tarnished look of your cover. Body perspiration contains oils which can accumulate and damage 11
the prosthesis if not removed by proper cleaning. Failure to keep your cover clean as instructed above will void the warranty. Be aware of the products you use Although the cover is made of a durable material, it is possible to stain it. Some examples of substances to avoid include blue Woolite, permanent markers, some pens and inks (newspaper ink will not stain), unwashed blue jeans and fabrics, bleach, chronic exposure to cigar and cigarette smoke, carbon paper and carbonless carbon paper. Given the number of new and developing products available today, it is impossible to list all products that might stain your cover. Stains If your prosthesis cover is stained, quickly wash it with a damp cloth and plain soap then rub with Isopropyl Alcohol. Precautions against tearing To protect your covering from tearing, take special care when using sharp objects and avoid impact with sharp edges at all times. When wearing the covering, avoid activities that expose the covering to high forces and heavy friction such as pushing the hand against heavy objects. Do not attempt to repair your i-limb skin cover. If your cover is damaged in any way, do not attempt to fix it yourself. Please contact your prosthetist. Cutting, gluing or altering your cover may make it unrepairable and will void the warranty. Accessing the battery or switch If you need access to a charge port or switch and have to roll up the i-limb skin covering, spray the outside with Isopropyl Alcohol before you start. This will make this process easier and prevent damage caused by friction. Nails The nails of the i-limb skin natural cover are silicone and cannot be polished/ painted as this will cause damage. Attaching acrylic nails 12
will void the warranty. If you have an i-limb skin match cover, the nails may either be silicone or acrylic. Acrylic fingernails may be polished as usual. Use only non-acetone nail polish remover. Silicone nails should not be polished. Jewelry and Gloves If you wish to wear gloves, a silk or smooth fabric lined glove will be much easier to put on and take off. If you wish to wear jewelry, please note that rings must be a pure and high grade metal such as silver and gold, and leathers and fabrics for covering wrist seams should not be products that risk bleeding dyes. 13
Warranty The i-limb skin active, i-limb skin natural, and i-limb skin match all have a 3 month warranty against manufacturer s defects when proper and adequate care is given to the cover. Please note that your Touch Bionics prosthesis is not under warranty when it is used without an approved cover. 14
