Report of the 30 th September Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair 2012 19-25 Sept 2012 at Hong Kong This year UBM Asia celebrated 30 th year of the Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair at Hong Kong for serving the world s jewellery industry. This show was started in a hotel ballroom in Hong Kong with 100 exhibitors, now host more than 3500 exhibitors spread over 190000 sq.mts. With the host city of Hong Kong being a duty-free port, there are no duties or restrictions imposed on precious jewellery products or materials. This has proven to be advantageous for international jewellers; it encourages worldwide trade with the region and makes the prices of goods more competitive. September is a peak season for the jewellery trade, as almost tens of thousands of professional jewellery buyers assembles to the September Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair to do business. Now recognised as the world s No. 1 business-to-business marketplace for the gem and jewellery sector, the September Fair gathers more than 51,000 buyers and more than 3,500 exhibitors from around the world in two world-class venues: the Asia-World-Expo (AWE) and the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre (HKCEC). The Fair at Asia-World Expo (AWE) featured around 1,600 exhibitors

from the world, who exhibited jewellery raw materials, including loose diamonds, gemstones, pearls, and packaging, tools & equipment. TIMELY EVENT: The Fair s September schedule makes it ideal for jewellers replenishing stocks for peak shopping seasons such as Christmas, New Year and Valentine s Day.
