The BA (Hons) Fashion Accessory Design course at Ravensbourne is a future driven programme involving textile and materials innovation alongside new prototyping methods to produce an inspirational range of product and accessory outcomes both conceptual and commercial. Products range from eyewear through to bags, shoes, statement jewellery and alternative body adornments. Our students are given the opportunity to explore and expand current perceptions of fashion accessory design through industry-led and practice-based projects. The 2018 graduates combine conceptual creativity and commercial awareness with future-craft and digital making techniques. The variety of their projects build the mindsets and skillsets that will allow them to become part of a vibrant and constantly growing market. Our students graduate with transferable skills in research and development that will allow them to work across product sectors. They will graduate as commercially savvy designers with knowledge of consumer profiling, product development and sustainable sourcing, able to compete in a vibrant and fast moving sector. Industry Connections 2017/18 has been another successful year in our effort to offer our students direct contact with a variety of industry partners. As a result, our second year students had the opportunity to showcase their work during an exceptional exhibition at OXO Tower in central London. The exhibition featured our collaboration with VF Corporation where students worked on a live brief for denim brand Wrangler. Following this exceptional showcase, another round of designs emerged from our collaboration with RED Eyewear Ltd, a project that inspired extensive material making and brought about inspirational as well as commercial pieces.
