FOREWORD It is some years since Albert Amor issued a catalogue specifically of Continental porcelain, and so I am delighted to offer this catalogue of the Princess Reuss Collection of figures. The collection was formed in the first half of the 20th century by the grandfather of the present owner, an Austrian industrialist, whose great passion for hunting inspired his collection of hunting figures from Meissen, Vienna and many other factories. Vienna is well represented in the collection as one would expect, both with large groups such as numbers 1 and 2 and single figures such as the rare and finely modelled figure of a sportswoman, number 53. Meissen examples include several figures of the same model with variations in colouring, including number 10, the base with the rare Elector s mark K.H.C, and also a charming selection of miniature Meissen figures, both 18th and 19th century, of which the figures 20 and 21, in their Saxon hunting livery are particularly appealing. A selection of animals, both of a regular and miniature scale include the unusual Meissen miniature deer, number 31, the brilliantly modelled small hound, number 36, and the well modelled, but perhaps for some too realistic, Thuringian sportsman and boar group, number 37. A number of fine Frankenthal figures are also offered for sale, the earliest number 45, a particularly well modelled and coloured example, and the pair of figures, number 46. Ludwigsburg examples include number 47, again especially well modelled and coloured. As we often state in our catalogues, it is a pleasure to offer for sale pieces that have been part of a carefully chosen private collection, and not seen on the market for over fifty years. All pieces are for sale from the publication of this catalogue please do telephone or e-mail for more information or prices. Mark Law London, October 2011 mark@albertamor.co.uk
