Reagent 2 Primary Routes of Exposure Potential Effects of Acute Exposure Potential Effects of Chronic Exposure Symptoms of Overexposure Carcinogenicity Other Effects 8448344-75 AB Page 5 of 11 Section 11 Toxicological Information (Continued) The most likely routes of exposure are skin, eye contact and inhalation. Inhalation of dilute alkaline mists may result in irritation of mucous membranes with sore throat, coughing, difficulty in breathing; intense exposure, the lungs may fill with fluid. Contact with dilute solutions may cause irritation or skin injury with redness, fissures and white patches. Eye contact may result in severe burns with possible loss of sight, irritation of eyes and eyelids, pain and intense watering. Ingestion may result in burns to the mouth, throat and stomach with burning sensations in the mouth, abdominal pain, vomiting, diarrhea, shock and loss of consciousness. Exposure to isopropyl alcohol vapor may cause irritation of nose, throat and eyes. Inhalation of high concentrations may cause narcotic effects and mild to deep central nervous system depression with headache, drowsiness, dizziness and stupor. Skin contact may cause slight irritation; skin absorption may occur. Eye contact with vapor is mildly irritating, however, liquid contact may result in severe irritation with an intense burning sensation. Ingestion may cause narcotic effects, central nervous system depression, hemorrhaging and lung damage. Symptoms may include those for inhalation as well as vomiting, bleeding and unconsciousness. Repeated skin contact with dilute alkaline may cause irritation with redness and swelling or burns. Repeated eye contact may cause conjunctivitis with redness, swelling and watering or burns. Depending upon concentration, repeated ingestion may result in inflammatory or ulcerative effects on the mouth with redness, swelling and sores in the mouth. Repeated or prolonged exposure to isopropyl alcohol by skin and eye contact may result in dermatitis with dry, cracked skin and conjunctivitis with red, swollen eyes. No long term effects of ingestion of isopropyl alcohol have been reported in humans; animal tests have resulted in weight loss, unconsciousness, and death. Symptoms of overexposure may include: redness, burning and watering of the eyes; dry, red, cracked skin; coughing and difficult breathing, central nervous system depression, and coma. This product does not contain a reportable concentration ( 0.1%) of any ingredient listed as carcinogen by ACGIH, IARC, NTP, OSHA or 67/548/EEC Annex I. Reproductive effects have been reported. Conditions Aggravated by Exposure Individuals with eye and skin disorders may find these conditions aggravated by exposure to this product.
