About us Just like the great British armourers and craftsmen, Robert Mole & Sons, Birmingham Small Arms and the famous Jewellery Quarter our inception occurred in the skilled city of Birmingham. Although we began providing our services throughout the UK we now cater to clients all over the world. Our team have been working closely with well established galleries and institutions and have an envied understanding of the antiques market. We hope you find our brochure of interest. Should you have any queries then please feel free to contact us.

Metal repairs - Fixing broken blades, tangs and much more using traditional metal forging as well as modern welding techniques.
Scabbard, Sheath & Hilt Every sword or dagger should be accompanied by a suitable sheath or scabbard. Our in house craftsmen create snug fitting period style scabbards for most types of antique sword & daggers. We only use high quality timber and can cater for specific needs. Our leather sheaths can be made using a variety of hides from across the globe and where possible can be tanned/stained to suit. Besides beautifully crafted scabbards & sheaths we also provide re-hilting services for a variety of sword types. The Indo Persian Tulwar sword is a popular client request due to the unique way the sword is mounted into the hilt.
Horn & Ethical Ivory We at Wootz Militaria do not support animal poaching or the trade in illegal animal ivory and only use ethical ivory or re-purposed vintage/antique ivory stores. With this in mind, we are proud to offer specialist restoration services in this field and can cater for most projects from entire ivory grips for a dagger or fixing chips in an ornament. We also work with other materials such as mother of pearl, agate & semi precious stones.
Leatherwork When restoring Arms & Armour there is sometimes the need for work to be done on leather or materials made from animal hide. Besides custom leather shaped or stitched to order, we also implement specialist techniques to help stabilise worn or heavily aged leather, should it be required. All the skins & hides we use are acquired from ethical sources and can provide leather in varied thickness and in most shades and colours.
Engraving & Inlay Why not take advantage of our specialist engraving services. You may wish to accentuate existing engravings or replace missing gold or silver inlay. Furthermore, we offer custom etching on most metal surfaces. We also provide gold & silver gilding for most metal and timber objects, such as wood frames, sword hilts & chapes.
Guns & Rifles We hold all relevant licences needed in the U.K to use and work with live or deactivated firearms. Besides vintage guns we specialise in black powder guns and have been doing so for over 20 years. Our head armourer has been working closely with re-enactment organisations and providing consultancy on the use and maintenance of antique firearms for many years. We are regularly requested to provide services for the following: Dented or bent barrels Woodworm/beetle treatment & repair Stock repairs Damascus barrel etching General cosmetic work Fashioning missing parts

We provide a comprehensive antique restoration and repair service for a wide variety of antique weaponry & armour. Our fully equipped workshop allows us to give each and every item the required amount of attention. We endeavour to ensure that the process of getting an item restored is as simple as possible. We can arrange the collection and delivery of items (subject to location) and can accept multi-item projects. Aside from the many years we have spent in this industry, it is the passion our team has for antiques that really make us stand out. Not only can we date and identify items, we have a technical understanding of their construction as well as the materials and techniques used to make them. It is this knowledge and expertise that instils confidence in our clients and has enabled us to create a loyal customer base.
Aftercare Client satisfaction is paramount, as we do not believe that the client experience finishes once a service or transaction has been completed. We are able to provide updates throughout the progress of a sale, delivery or a restoration. We believe in open & clear communication with all our clients via their preferred contact (be that telephone, email or video conference). This approach has enabled us to capture vital feedback and help to improve our processes and ultimately keep our valued clients happy.
