About our items Costume jewellery was initially intended to imitate fine jewellery. During the 15th to the 17th century, costume jewellery was worn during daytime, while fine jewellery was reserved for evening wear. The development of costume jewellery progressed further during the early years of the Victorian Era, also known as the Romantic period. Due to the popularity of costume jewellery, pieces were mass produced which then spurred the development of the Arts and Crafts movement in the early 20th century. From the Arts and Crafts movement, the worldrenowned Parisian Art Nouveau was born. When the First World War broke out, fine jewellers of the time were forced to create fine jewellery reproductions in order put food on the table. These artisans were ashamed to sign the reproduced pieces in fear of tarnishing their reputations. Although they used semi or non-precious materials, the finished products were of high-calibre comparable to fine jewellery. In the 1930s Coco Chanel and Elsa Schiaparelli, two outstanding names in fashion history, mastered the art of accessorising with fine and costume jewellery for ready-to-wear apparel. Hollywood glamour greatly influenced the fashion industry, costume jewellery graced the stars on the silver screen and became widely-accepted throughout the world. Today, we are enjoying the historical beauty of costume jewellery. Here at Olivia Marcheline, we offer the luxury of a wide-range and carefullyselected collection that caters for ladies and gentlemen. We are passionate to provide the finest and the most glamorous accessories to suit every taste. The following pieces shown are only samples of our wide range of collections dating from the late 1800s to the 1980s. Please enjoy the journey. Olivia Marcheline Look Book 2012 Page 4

Lanvin France s oldest Parisian fashion house, Lanvin was founded in 1889 at 22 Rue de Faubourg Saint Honoré by Jeanne Lanvin (born in Paris in 1896; died in 1946). She drew inspiration from her daughter, who then succeeded her mother in 1946 and remained to operate the Lanvin fashion house until her death in 1958.
