May 2017 Greetings Artists, Lake Oswego s Craft in the Park: Fine Art and Craft show is just around the corner on June 23, 24, and 25, 2017. We are excited to see you on Thursday, June 22 for registration and set-up at George Rogers Park. Our volunteers and staff strive to make your Festival experience enjoyable and profitable. The Festival is a public family event, and as such, we offer something for everyone. We use this criterion to select Craft in the Park artists, entertainment, and food. Craft in the Park Dates and Hours Friday, June 23, 10:00 am 8:00 pm * Saturday, June 24, 10:00 am 8:00 pm* Sunday, June 25, 10:00 am 5:00 pm * Festival remains open until 9:00 pm New for 2017 Introducing Our New Craft in the Park Curator. Christopher St. John has joined the Festival Steering Committee this year as my shadow and will curate Craft in the Park in 2018. He has worked successfully as a professional artist for the past 16 years and brings tremendous care and compassion to the committed work those artists and makers do. After only a few months on the job, he is proving himself a great asset to the Festival. Please welcome Christopher as he introduces himself to you during the Festival. Name Change. We changed our show name to Craft in the Park: Fine Art and Craft. This is a subtle change to focus on attracting more craft artists to participate in the show. Booth Number Your booth number was emailed to you from alerts@entrythingy.com. To find your booth location, see the George Rogers Park map below. We continue to use the popular quad layout so every booth is a corner. Booths are assigned to provide a balanced mix of media. We aimed to accommodate your individual requests, as we were able. If your booth is in row B, C, D, E, F, or G, please familiarize yourself the Quad Booth Layout below. Contents of this Packet (scroll down to see the documents in this mailing) George Rogers Park Map. The lower portion of the map (southwest area) is where the booth show takes place. The two parallel lines just above the booth area indicate the fire lane that must remain free and clear. Quad Booth Layout. This illustrates how to set up your canopy within the quad in order to take advantage of the storage space. Artists may use a 2-foot x 10-foot storage space behind their canopy. Artists who hold a double booth space are asked to center their booth across the two-booth area leaving a 2-foot area behind their booth for shared storage. We recommend you and your neighbors collaborate to share the space equitably. This layout does not apply to artists in Row A since they have ample storage space behind their booths. Directions to George Rogers Park. This describes directions to George Rogers Park from the four cardinal directions. NOTE: During the Festival, the only vehicle approach to George Rogers Park is to turn east on Wilbur Street (two blocks north of the park), then right on Furnace Street and right on Green Street. Parking Tips. These tips are for artists and their customers. Please share the customer tips with your collectors, patrons, friends, and family. Vendors & Volunteers: Exclusive Shuttle Information. During the Festival, exhibiting artists must park off-site at Hallinan Elementary School or Marylhurst University. This page shows maps, directions, shuttle stops, and hours for off-site parking. 1

Fire Department letter. The Lake Oswego Fire Department regulations state that all booths must be constructed of fire retardant material. Reproduction Policy for Craft in the Park. This policy is intended to ensure a high quality event. It applies to all 2D media. Please review the policy. Artist greeting cards may be displayed in one small tabletop rounder or in a single basket or box on a table. Festival of the Arts Lodging 2017 Lodging Packages. Check the flyer for the booking deadline. Special Advertising Rates for Craft in the Park Artists. The Lake Oswego Review, publisher of the official Festival Program, offers special rates for Craft in the Park artists. See the flyer for the deadline for program ads. Registration and Set-Up Set-up is on Thursday, June 22. Before you set up, register at Artist Services and pick up your Welcome Package. Then unload your canopy and artwork and move your vehicle off the field as quickly as possible. Vehicles must be off the field before the next group of artists arrives to set up. You may park on Green Street on Thursday since the Festival has not started. Setup hours by booth number. Set-up times are based on your booth location. 9:00 am to 11:00 am for A1-A28 11:00 am to 1:00 pm for B1-B16, C1-C16 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm for D1-D16, E1-E16 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm for F1-F14, G1-G14 Open Set-up starts at 4:00 pm for those who cannot come at their designated time. All artists must have their canopies set up by 9:00 am on Friday. If you need access to the field on Thursday evening, inform Festival staff early so security personnel can be notified. Festival volunteers will be available to help you from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm on Thursday. Emergencies. If you have an emergency or a problem that affects your set-up time, contact Sally Hedman at 503.348.4500 or the Festival office at 503.636.1060. Morning access. To facilitate dropping off your work in the mornings before the Festival opens, you may drive onto the field starting at 7:30 am. You must be off the field by 9:00 am. Artist Process Statement The Festival is an arts education event. We expect you to display a process statement in your booth that includes your photo and images that illustrate the process and materials you use. As part of our mission to educate the public, we recognize that people will place a higher value on artwork when they understand the vision and labor that goes into creating your art. Artist Availability Artists must keep their booths open during Craft in the Park hours regardless of weather. Artists must be available in the booth during these hours. Please remember that the artist whose work is juried in must be present during the show. We encourage art demonstrations. Booth Sitting Booth sitters are available to provide 10-15 minute artist breaks during the day. If you requested a booth sitter on your Artist Acceptance form, you can expect a booth sitter to come by and give you a 10-15-minute break. Day-of booth sitting appointments are available on a first come, first served basis. Request a booth sitter at the Artist Services area in the Information Booth or flag down one who is circulating among the booths. Sitters wear bright yellow BOOTH SITTER buttons. 2

Security Security guards and/or police patrol the park from Thursday, June 22 at 8:00 pm through Sunday, June 25 at 7:30 pm. We recommend that you take any precautions you feel necessary to ensure the safety of your artwork. As a reminder, the Festival does not insure individual artists' inventories. The Lake Oswego Police Department will provide bicycle officers in George Rogers Park and will monitor traffic on nearby roads. Artist Awards Breakfast Award winners will be recognized at the Artist Awards Breakfast on Sunday at 9:00 am under the big tent. A representative of the Lake Oswego Rotary Foundation, that sponsors the Craft in the Park show, will be present to help present the awards. Show Photographer Dan Kvitka Photography returns as this year's Show Photographer. We have chosen Dan for his versatility as a photographer, professional images, and dedication to his client's success. For those who are not familiar with Dan's work, visit his website: http://www.kvitkaphotography.com. Never underestimate the value of a professional booth shot. Do you need a fresh booth shot showing your current work? Are you new to the world of shows that require a high quality booth shot? If so, contact Dan directly to schedule an appointment to have your booth photographed: 503.318.1734, dankvitka@gmail.com. Dan is available to photograph your booth set-up on Friday, June 23 before the show starts. The cost is $35.00. Handicapped Parking If you have a handicapped sticker, we can reserve a space for you adjacent to the park entrance. Let us know your vehicle dimensions, so we can accommodate your needs. Please contact Sally for a special artist parking pass. A Few Reminders Tear Down There are two ATMs in the park. Efforts to eliminate pets from the park will continue. Service dogs are welcome. The City of Lake Oswego does not allow overnight parking of campers or RVs on public streets. Safety and patience are the watchwords for the tear down process. You will receive more information about tear down on Festival Sunday. Promote Your Participation in Craft in the Park Email the 2017 Craft in the Park digital postcard to your collectors, followers, friends, and family. If you have questions, please contact me. We look forward to seeing you in June. Wishing you safe travels.
