Την ημέρα της «Γιορτής του κάου μπόι», όπως τη λένε, σκάλισα τα πράγματάμου και ξέθαψα το μοναδικό υποφερτό κοστούμι μου, το φόρεσα κι άρχισα να κόβω βόλτες, πάντα με το πάσο μου, τριγυρίζοντας στην πόλη. Τημέρα αυτή, σύμφωνα μ ένα παλιό έθιμο, όποιον δεν φοράει μπλου τζινστο δρόμο τον πιάνουν οι άλλοι και τον πετάνε σε μια δεξαμενή με νερό.αλλά δεν έγινε τίποτα. Τη δεξαμενή δεν μπόρεσα να τη δω ούτε απόμακριά. Είχα κατεβάσει αρκετά ποτηράκια όταν πια άρχισα να τρικλίζωστα πέριξ με πολύ κακές διαθέσεις. Η πόλη μού ανήκε. Ο γιατρός ήρθεσεινάμενος κουνάμενος κι ήθελε να πάμε για ψάρεμα ή για κυνήγι, ούτεθυμάμαι πια. Το συγγενολόι της γυναίκας μου είχε μαζευτεί, και όλοι τους με παρακολουθούσανε με γουρλωμένα μάτια ν αδειάζω τις μπίρεςστη σειρά, ενώ τους διηγιόμουνα ανέκδοτα και γέμιζα το καλάθι με τιςάδειες κονσέρβες. Εκείνη ήθελε να φύγουμε οπωσδήποτε και να μετακομίσουμε στο ΛοςΆντζελες. Δεν είχα ποτέ πριν ζήσει σε μεγάλη πόλη. Προσπάθησα να τηναποτρέψω απ αυτήν την ιδέα, γιατί τελικά εγώ έβρισκα τη ζωή στο Τέξαςυποφερτή, αλλά πού! Εκείνη επέμενε να φύγουμε. Ο παππούς μάς έδωσεένα τσεκ κι έτσι ξαναγυρίσαμε στο Λος Άντζελες. Με το λεωφορείο. Δύοκατασκονισμένοι, καταϊδρωμένοι εκατομμυριούχοι που ταξιδεύουνε σ ένα λαϊκό λεωφορείο για το Λος Άντζελες. Και πού είσαι ακόμα, αργότεραόταν ήρθανε οι χειρότερες μέρες: εκείνη επέμενε ότι έπρεπε νακερδίζουμε μόνοι μας τα προς το ζην. Στρατολογήθηκα λοιπόν ξανά στηνπαλιά γνωστή καλή δουλειά του πακετατζή, ενώ εκείνη εγκαταστάθηκεστο σπίτι με το διακαή πόθο να βρεθεί μια δουλειά για να μην κάθεται. Κάθε βράδυ μετά τη δουλειά έπρεπε οπωσδήποτε να μεθύσω. «Παντοδύναμε!» έλεγα στον εαυτό μου, «τι έκανα; Πήγα και παντρεύτηκααυτήν τη χοντροκαμωμένη χωριάτα». Το ότι δεν έδειχνα κανένα σεβασμό για το

23 Jonas Hecksher holds a degree from The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts - The School of Design and École supérieure d arts graphiques et d architecture, Paris, where he specialized in graphic design and typography design. Heckscher is Partner and Creative Director at design agency e-types which he co-founded in 1997 and co-founder of type foundry and type design brand Playtype. His work range from corporate visual identities to fashion brand typefaces such as Danish Film Institute; Copenhagen Jazz Festival, Georg Jensen, Jacobsen Beer, Danish National Police, Noir, Royal Danish Theatre, Royal Academy of Fine Arts School of Architecture, SuperBrugsen, Aquascutum London, Codan. Hecksher s profound interest is typography design for newspapers. Clients include Daily Newspaper Dagen; Daily Newspaper BT, Daily Newspaper Berlingske and the Rzezcspospolita newspaper in Warsaw, Poland. He is a 5-time recipient and 2-time nominee for the Danish Design Award and has also received 2 Gold, 1 Silver and 1 Bronze at Creative Circle Arward.
