Uniform Standards and Further Information An official Sunbury Downs College uniform is to be worn in its entirety as per Uniform Details SDC 2015 document Each College day from the time the student leaves home for College until he/she returns home To and from venues of official sporting fixtures and other events outside the College Grounds When attending official College functions including excursions, incursions and while on tour with College groups From 2015 the Sunbury Downs College uniform includes a blazer. This uniform item will be phased over a 3 year period. In 2015 all Year 7 and newly enrolled students must wear a College blazer as part of the College Uniform. In 2016, Year 7 and 8 and in 2017 Years 7, 8 and 9. Please note: By 2018 all Years 7-12 students are required to wear the College blazer. A school approved weather proof over garment is an optional item that may be worn on top of the blazer during wet weather (this item must be purchased by the uniform supplier). Spray Jackets are not to be worn over the blazer during wet weather to and from school. In the period of 2015 to 2018 the College will also phase in a new College dress. All students (girls) must wear the new College dress by the start of the 2018 school year. The new College Dress must be worn by all Year 7 and newly enrolled students and those needing to purchase a new College dress from 2015 onwards. Please note: By 2018 all Year 7 12 students are required to wear the new College dress. Blazers may be removed on College property but must be worn for official occasions on school premises e.g. College Assemblies. Blazers must be worn by students in uniform, off College property when students are travelling to and from school and during events and activities outside the College e.g. excursions. Blazers and ties need not be worn when the temperature exceeds 30ºC or is forecasted to exceed 30 ºC in these scenarios, as determined by the Bureau of Meteorology. (This information will be provided to students in Home group). Students may be sent home from College, sporting venues and organised training sessions if they present themselves without the correct uniform. College Shirt The College uniform shirt is a business style shirt, complete with top button. Students may wear the college shirt in either shortsleeve or long-sleeve styles. Business neck shirt (College name on collar): must be worn with tie (tie must be worn with shirt buttoned to the top button) to be worn with blazer to and from school may be worn with jumper (with blazer) not to be worn with spray jacket College Tie Shirts are to be fully buttoned when worn with a tie. The College tie is a compulsory item when the business style shirt is worn. The tie is to be arranged in the conventional manner in which ties are worn. Page 2 of 12

PE Uniform The complete PE uniform (introduced in 2007) is as follows: official Sunbury Downs College navy blue shirt with stripes on cuff official Sunbury Downs College navy blue shorts with logo white sport socks runners, preferably white (non-marking sole) official (logo) tracksuit Please note: As of 2015 all students in Year 7-9 can wear the Sunbury Downs College PE uniform to and from school, on days when practical PE or Year 9 & 10 Dance are scheduled as a timetabled practical class. Students are not required to change on these days, unless they have a practical Technology subject on that same day, in which case black leather lace up footwear must be worn for those classes. Therefore if students have Technology on a scheduled PE day, they must bring the official full College uniform to change into. Students will not be allowed to participate in Technology subjects if they have not complied with this requirement. It is the student s responsibility to adhere to this guideline. No student may wear the school jumper with the PE uniform. Students are required to wear the full PE uniform for all PE practical classes. The College spray jacket will become part of the PE uniform, to be worn on top of the track suit or with PE uniform (logo polo shirt & shorts). The spray jacket may be worn with the Sunbury Downs College PE uniform travelling to and from school and during class. The Sunbury Downs PE Uniform is the only PE garment to be worn for PE and Dance Classes (Year 9 and 10 only). Students wearing non-approved clothing (without a uniform pass) will not be permitted to participate in scheduled PE or Dance classes. Sport - Interschool Sport Representing the College in Sport (separate to PE Classes) Students (Year 7-9) must wear correct College PE uniform when participating in inter-school Sport. The College will endeavour to return marked articles, which are found, to their owners; it will disclaim any responsibility for unmarked articles Grounds for the granting of an exemption from compliance The College Council will consider applications for exemption on the grounds that an aspect of the dress code: offends a religious belief held by the student and/or parents prevents the student from complying with a requirement of his or her ethnic or cultural background prevents students with disabilities from being able to attend school or participate in school activities on the same terms as other students. must be modified because a student has a particular physical or health condition.
