Safety precautions A number of safety precautions are necessary before using this appliance in order to avoid undesired side effects: Do not use Radiance 200 on dark skin. Treating dark skin can lead to side effects such as burns, blisters or changes to skin colour (hyperor hypo-pigmentation). Do not use on skin which is tanned or has recently been exposed to the sun! Do not expose yourself to sunlight without protection: - during the 4 weeks prior to treatment - during the 2 weeks following treatment 8

Exposing yourself to sunlight without protection means exposing yourself to direct sunlight for a continuous period of fifteen minutes or exposing yourself to indirect sunlight continuously for an hour. I f you are exposed to sunlight, you must use adequate protection, such as a garment or sunscreen (with SPF over 50), which must be used regularly for the 3 weeks before and after treatment. Warning: You must also follow exactly these same instructions if you are exposed to UV light on a sunbed. Do not use if you have applied any self-tanning cream to your skin. You should allow for the tanning effect of the cream to disappear completely before using this appliance. Do not use on or around your eyes as this can cause serious eye injuries. This appliance is not suitable for depilating eyelashes and eyebrows. Never look directly into the light pulses. Keep well away from your eyes! Wear the protection goggles included throughout your treatments. Do not treat the same area of skin more than once per session! Do not overlap the light pulses! If any burns or blisters appear, stop using immediately! Ensure you cover up any birthmarks, tattoos, sun spots, freckles, birthmarks, warts or growths before using this appliance. Ensure to shave the treatment area before using. Ensure your skin is clean before using. Do not use on your scrotum, vagina, labia minora, anus, nipples, areolas, inside ears or inside your nose. Do not use on any part of the body where you may wish hair to grow at a later stage. Do not use for any purpose other than depilation. Never point the application to send a light pulse into an open space. 9

Only aim the treatment surface towards the skin. The application surface must be in full contact with the surface of the skin before releasing a light pulse. Warning: hot surfaces. Do not touch the application surface with your fingers. You should also ensure you keep the application surface clean. (refer to the Cleaning section for further information). Never use flammable liquids such as alcohol (including perfume, deodorant or any other substance containing alcohol) or acetone to clean the skin before using this appliance. Keep Radiance 200 out of reach of children. Do not use on children and do not allow children to use this appliance. Stop using immediately if you notice any abnormality or if the appliance displays any fault or emits any unusual noise or odour. Stop using the unit immediately if the flash bulb has any cracks or marks on it, or if the application surface is broken. Contact the Conair Customer Care Line (refer to UK After Sales Service section for further information). Stop using Radiance 200 when the On/Off indicator light turns red and unplug the adaptor from the socket. Do not attempt to open or repair the unit yourself. Opening the unit yourself can expose you to dangerous electrical components and to the pulsed light energy, which can cause serious personal injuries and/or irreversible damage to your eyes. If Radiance 200 is broken, damaged or needs repair, contact the Conair Customer Care Line (refer to UK After Sales Service section for further information). 2. How Radiance 200 works Radiance 200 from BaByliss is a personal depilator that uses IPL (intense pulsed light) for easy and sustained removal of unwanted hair. 10

2.1. IPL technology Using IPL technology, Radiance 200 painlessly removes hair by emitting pulsed light. The pulsed light targets the pigment present in the hair (melanin) to get through to the root and prevent the hair from growing back. Therefore, the more melanin the hair contains (i.e. the darker the hair colour), the more light the hair can absorb and the more conclusive the results will be. IPL technology has been used widely by professionals for more than 15 years and clinical studies have proven that it is effective and safe. 2.2. Hair growth cycle The hair growth cycle plays a key part in the process of IPL depilation. Therefore, it is important to understand how the full hair growth cycle works in order to achieve lasting results. The hair growth cycle consists of three successive phases: Growth Transition Resting Growth Resting 18 to 24 months Transition 11

The full hair growth cycle lasts on average between 18 and 24 months. Most hairs are either resting or transition phases. Radiance 200 has no effects on hairs in these phases. IPL is only effective, however, on hairs in the growth phase. Therefore, multiple treatments are required to be effective on all of the hairs and to achieve lasting results. 2.3. Planning treatments You should plan your treatments. We recommend you follow the following schedule which has delivered excellent results: The first 4 treatments should be 2 weeks apart. The following treatments should be 4 weeks apart (until the desired result is achieved). If hair grows back subsequently, you will then use the appliance on an occasional basis to achieve lasting results, ensuring at least 4 weeks between the treatments. 12

It is recommended that you use Radiance 200 with moderation, i.e. not repeating the treatment with Radiance 200 indefinitely. N.B.: Hormonal factors and physiological changes can cause resting hairs to become active. Maintenance treatments can be performed (with at least 4 weeks between the treatments). 13

2.4. Length of treatments Treatment area Average length of Mode used treatment Half leg 8 to 10 minutes Glide mode Leg 15 minutes Glide mode Back 5 minutes Glide mode Torso 5 minutes Glide mode Bikini line 2 minutes Precision mode Armpit 1 minute Precision mode Face 1 minute Precision mode N.B.: The different operating modes (Glide and Precision) are explained in section 4.1. 14 2.5. Results to expect The effectiveness can vary: from person to person, depending on the treatment area, depending on the colour of the hair. Note: IPL is not effective on white, grey or light-blonde hair. White, grey and light-blonde hair has a small melanin content so will not respond sufficiently to pulsed light treatment. N.B.: - It is quite common for hair to seem to continue growing for one or two weeks after a treatments (this is called ejection). However, after two weeks you will see these hairs fall out or detach themselves from the follicles. We advise you against plucking hairs out. Let hairs fall out naturally.

- It is possible for some hairs to grow back lighter and finer than before, following a IPL depilation session. This phenomenon has been extensively documented by beauticians and doctors who use pulsed light devices for depilation treatments. 2.6. Description 1. Pulse button 2. Flash bulb 3. Application surface 4. ON/OFF button + intensity selector 1. 6. 5. 4. 5. ON/OFF/READY LED indicator light 6. Intensity level LED indicators 2. 3. 15

2.7. Eye protection device Thanks to built-in eye protection, Radiance 200 only releases light pulses when the application surface is entirely in contact with the skin. Please wear the protective goggles provided throughout your depilation sessions with Radiance 200. 3. Before using 3.1. Selecting the level of intensity Radiance 200 features 5 levels of intensity, running from the lowest (level 1) to the highest (level 5). The level of intensity indicates the intensity of the pulsed light applied to the skin. To select the required level of intensity for your own skin, follow these steps: 16

A. Which skin tone are you? It is important to work out your skin tone using the table below to determine which light intensities are most suitable for your skin and body hair color. N.B.: Each body area may require a different light intensity according to the table below. This unit is more effective at the higher intensities, but you should reduce the light intensity if you experience any pain or discomfort. Note: In order to use Radiance 200 safely, the light intensity table must, be used in conjunction with the instructions given in this instruction manual. Selecting the wrong level of intensity can lead to side effects. 17

Skin Types suitable for Radiance 200 People with light blonde, red or white hair must not use this appliance. People with very brown or black skin must not use this appliance. B. Performing a test 48 hours before the first use, you should perform a test with Radiance 200 on one leg (a few light pulses), selecting intensity level 1 regardless of your skin type. C. Select the required level of intensity for your skin type If your skin responds to the test correctly, and if you have still not experienced any abnormal reaction or discomfort after 48 hours following the test, you can gradually increase the level of intensity during subsequent IPL treatments in line with the following guide: For people with white skin: First treatment: - set no higher than intensity level 1. Second and third treatments: - if you did not experience any particular discomfort or pain during the previous treatment, you can set intensity level 2 for the second treatment and intensity level 3 for the third treatment. 18

Fourth treatments and subsequent treatments: - only if there have been no side effects whatsoever resulting from the previous session, you can set intensity level 4 for the fourth treatment and intensity level 5 for subsequent treatments. For people with beige skin or light brown skin: First treatment: - set the appliance no higher than intensity level 1. Second treatment: - if you did not experience any particular discomfort or pain during the previous treatment, you can set intensity level 2. Third treatment and subsequent treatments: - only if there have been no side effects whatsoever resulting from the previous treatment, you can set intensity level 3 for the third treatment and MAXIMUM 4 for subsequent treatments. For people with medium brown and dark brown skin: First treatment: - set the appliance no higher than intensity level 1. Second treatment: - if you did not experience any particular discomfort or pain during the previous treatment, you can set intensity level 2 for the second treatment. Subsequent treatments: - only if there have been no side effects whatsoever resulting from the previous treatment, you can set the intensity level to MAXIMUM 3. People with brown or black skin must not use the appliance. 19

N.B.: It is possible you may notice some different skin colours on your body, because different areas of the body are exposed to sunlight in different amounts. For example, skin on the arms, which are generally exposed to the sun more, is darker than skin on the armpits. However, you are advised against increasing the level of intensity to use Radiance 200 on lighter areas of skin on your body. Increasing the level of intensity for the lighter areas of skin on your body may give better results, but it also increases the likelihood of discomfort and even side effects. 3.2. Preparing the skin Before you use Radiance 200, your skin must be shaved (24 hours beforehand), clean, dry and free from any residue of powder or deodorant. Warning: do not epilate (with an electric epilator, tweezers or waxing) before using Radiance 200. Epilating removing hair from the root would prevent intense pulsed light (IPL) treatment from having any effect. 3.3. Installation and start-up 1. Plug the adaptor cord into the socket on the appliance (which is located on the round base of the device). 2. Plug the other end of the adapter into a power socket. The ON/OFF/ READY LED indicator will light up orange. 20

3. Please wear the pair of protective goggles provided before starting using this appliance. 4. Using Radiance 200 4.1. Operating modes Radiance 200 features two operating modes. Precision mode and Glide mode. A. Precision mode Precision mode allows you to safely treat the more hard-to-reach, sensitive areas of the body (face, armpits, bikini line, etc.). Follow these steps 1. Press the ON/OFF button to turn on. > The ON/OFF/READY LED indicator will light up. > You will hear a slight fan noise. This is entirely normal. 21

2. Press the ON/OFF button once or several times to select the desired level of intensity. > The LED indicators corresponding to the selected level of intensity will light up. N.B.: - Radiance 200 is programmed to intensity level 1 by default. - To change from level 4 to level 1, for example, press the ON/OFF button as many times as necessary: the device will switch from level 4 to level 5 and then go down from level 5 to level 4, from level 4 to level 3 and so on, down to level 1. 3. Place the application surface on the desired area of skin, establishing complete contact with it. > The ON/OFF/READY LED indicator will start flashing. 4. Press the trigger button. > Radiance 200 will give off an LED pulse. N.B.: You may feel a slight sensation of warmth and tingling. 5. Remove the application surface from the treated area of skin. 6. Move the application surface to a different treatment area. > The ON/OFF/READY LED indicator will light up again after about 2 seconds. Radiance 200 is then ready to emit another pulse. B. Glide mode In Glide mode, the light pulses from your Radiance 200 are released automatically and constantly without any additional actions being necessary (36 light pulses per minute, constantly, at level 1). 22

Follow these steps 1. To activate Glide mode, repeat steps 1 and 2 for Precision mode. Then correctly place the application surface of Radiance 200 against your skin whilst holding down the trigger button on the device. 2. Glide Radiance 200 over your skin without interruptions, in a slow, continuous movement, without making any up or down movements. N.B.: If you remove Radiance 200 from your skin whilst holding down the trigger button, it will stay in Glide mode. However, for your own safety, the pulsed light will only be released if Radiance 200 is in full contact with your skin. You should ensure that the application surface of Radiance 200 is in full contact with your skin in order to allow it to glide. If the application surface of Radiance 200 is not in full contact with your skin, you will have 5 seconds in which to ensure that Radiance 200 is in full contact, whilst holding down the trigger button. If that window of 5 seconds is exceeded and there is still not complete contact with the skin, Glide mode will be deactivated. Release the trigger button and press it again to reactivate Glide mode. If you lift up the device and release the trigger, Glide mode will be deactivated. Glide mode is suitable for people who already have some experience and proficiency when using Radiance 200. With 36 pulses per minute (at level 1), Glide mode provides safe and fast treatment of larger areas of the body (legs, back, arms, torso). For sensitive areas and the face, you should use Precision mode. 23

4.2. Facial treatments Safety precautions for facial use: Radiance 200 is only suitable for depilating the lower part of the face (cheeks, upper lip and chin). Radiance 200 is not suitable for depilating eyelashes, hair and eyebrows. Do not look at the area of skin being treated while the light pulses are being released. Wear the pair of protection goggles provided. Do not use Radiance 200 around the eyes. Radiance 200 is not suitable for treating men s beards. For your comfort and safety, we recommend that you have someone help you use Radiance 200 on your face for the first few sessions. Do not use Glide mode for depilating the face. You must wait 5 seconds between each pulse of light when using the device on the face. Any facial treatment with Radiance 200 must not last any longer than 10 minutes. 24

4.3. Coverage of the treatment area For proper coverage of the treatment area, the light pulses need to be applied to your skin in lines, from one extremity to the other, systematically continuing in successive lines. This prevents the side effects caused by overlapping the light pulses. The imprints left on your skin by the pressure from the application surface of Radiance 200 should help you to align yourself correctly to apply each new pulse, to avoid pulses overlapping or - on the other hand - to avoid the pulses being spaced too far apart. 5. After using Radiance 200 5.1. Turning off Radiance 200 At the end of your depilation session, switch off Radiance 200 by pressing the ON/OFF button. Unplug the adaptor from the power socket. N.B.: Radiance 200 will stop automatically if you do not use the device for more than 10 minutes. The ON/OFF/READY LED indicator is now orange. To use Radiance 200 again, you have to press the ON/OFF button and select the required level of intensity again. 25

5.2. Cleaning We recommend that you clean Radiance 200, especially the application surface, after every depilation session: Unplug Radiance 200 before cleaning. Gently clean the casing of Radiance 200 and especially the application surface, using a clean, dry cloth and a cleaner formulated for cleaning electronic equipment. After cleaning, store Radiance 200 in its original box in a dry, safe place. 5.3. Caring for the skin following treatments with Radiance 200 Do not expose areas of the skin treated with Radiance 200 to the sun without protection for 2 weeks following treatment. Protect your skin with sunscreen (50 SPH or higher) or a covering garment throughout the treatment period and for at least two weeks after the final treatment with Radiance 200. Do not use perfumed creams or deodorant following your treatment on areas treated with Radiance 200. 5.4. Possible side effects Side effects and complications are rare when Radiance 200 is used in accordance with the instructions in this instruction manual. However, any cosmetic treatment, even if designed for home use, has its risks. If light pulses applied by Radiance 200 are overlapping or repeated on the same area of skin, it is possible you may feel or see: 26

Mild pain in the skin: even though Radiance 200 is in most cases tolerated very well, most people who use it feel some mild pain during use, which they often describe as a tingling sensation in the area of skin being treated. In most cases, this tingling sensation is felt during application and even possibly for a few minutes afterwards. Any other discomfort apart from this mild pain is not normal and either means that you need to stop treatment with Radiance 200 because you do not tolerate it, or that your selected light pulse intensity level is too high. Redness: your skin may go red straight after using Radiance 200 or during the following 24 hours. The redness usually disappears within 24 hours. See your doctor if the redness lasts longer than 2 to 3 days. Skin hypersensitivity: skin is more sensitive in the treatment area and can dry out or peel. Burns or blisters: very rarely, skin may be vulnerable to injuries or burns following treatment with Radiance 200. Full recovery can take several weeks and, in exceptional cases, a scar may remain. Scarring: even though these are very rare cases, there may be permanent scarring. In most instances these scars take the form of a surface lesion with whitish colouration (hypotrophic). However, scars may be wide and red (hypertrophic) or wide and extended behind the injured area (keloid). More extensive cosmetic treatments may be required to improve their appearance. Change to pigmentation: Radiance 200 targets the root of the hair, specifically the pigmented cells in the bulb. However, there is a risk of temporary hyperpigmentation (increased pigmentation or brown discolouration) or hypopigmentation (whitening) of the surrounding skin. People with darker skin are more at risk of changes to pigmentation. In most cases, any changes to pigmentation and discolouration of the skin are temporary. Permanent hyperpigmentation and permanent hypopigmentation are rare. 27

Excessive redness and swelling: in some rare cases, skin treated with Radiance 200 can become very red and swollen. This reaction is more common in sensitive areas of the body. Redness and swelling should disappear within 2 to 7 days of regular application of ice. Gentle cleaning is no problem, but you should avoid exposure to sunlight. Infection: skin infections are extremely rare but may occur following burns or injuries to the skin caused by Radiance 200. Bruising: very rarely, using Radiance 200 can cause bluish-purple bruising which can last for 5 to 10 days. As the blue fades, the skin can take on a rusty colour (hyperpigmentation) which may be permanent. It is normal to feel some discomfort after a treatment with Radiance 200. Speak to your doctor if discomfort persists or bothers you during or after treatment with Radiance 200. 28 6. Troubleshooting 6.1.
