BTOY SOLO SHOW «IDENTITY» ABOUT THE EXHIBITION After Djerbahood this summer, Itinerrance gallery returns to Paris for 2014-2015 season which promises to be colorful! To begin this new series of exhibitions, femininity is honored by the artist Btoy (Spain). Already known on the parisian artistic scene (Tour Paris 13, In Situ...), she has painted a serie of women portraits in which emotions are strongly expressed. Their looks are insistently staring at us or some times they are staring an empty point which are making a strong impression on the public. In this exhibition, the artist speaks of being, of what unites us and what makes us different, what we want to have and what is missing us. These heroes of yesterday and today has being questioned the very construction of the woman s image in time and what is the feminine identity. Pioneer of the stencil in Spain, practicing her art for almost fifteen years, Btoy has become an essential figure of the Street Art movement. ANDREA MICHAELSSON ARTIST BIOGRAPHY Andrea Michaelsson aka BTOY is a spanish artist born in 1977 and living in Barcelona. One of her interests is to use what might be called a «Found Wall» with its irregular surfaces, adding remains of pollution and ads, where doors and windows boarded become appropriate frameworks for self-expression Their characters stop and dig into his eyes making us reflect on the passage of time. Her work is characterized by intertextuality. Heavy load nostalgic portraits are swayed by forceful brushstrokes and color. Pallets colors challenge to those described in black and White photographs. Btoy presented in her works the precepts of postmodernism, eclectic, ephemeral, the result of the loss of social cohesion. She has exhibited at galleries in Barcelona, London, Paris and Bérgamo; and she has participated in many live shows as «The Cans Festival», in London. She exhibited «Cleopatra» at Bundeskunsthalle, in Bonn and «Tour 13» in Paris. www.flickr.com/btoy
