General Employment Questions 1. What is your greatest strength? This is one of the questions that employers almost always ask. When you are asked about your greatest strengths, it's important to discuss the attributes that will qualify you for the specific job and set you apart from the other candidates. You should site specific examples of your own personal achievements from your previous or current employment. A good way to explain your strengths is to sum them up in three words. Example: I am zealous, decisive and proactive. I easily adapt to new policies, procedures, cultures and environments. 2. What is your greatest weakness? Another typical question interviewers will ask is about about your weaknesses. Do your best to frame your answers around positive aspects of your skills and abilities as an employee. You can be proactive in your answer. It is best that if you give a weakness example, let the interviewer know how you are bettering yourself and taking steps to improve. Example Answer: I tend to want to help others and take on someone else s work load while maintaining my own work load, I always give priority to my regular job duties but sometimes when I take on too much the little things get put aside. I ve come to terms with knowing when I can help people versus knowing when to give direction or advise to what I would do or how I would approach an assignment that way I don t immediately take on new tasks, but rather be the team player I intended to be. 3. Tell me about yourself. Here s how to answer questions about you without giving out too much or too little personal information. Start by sharing some of your personal interests which don't relate directly to work. It is your chance to sell yourself in a story form. Interviewers like people that are well rounded that can handle the everyday stress of work and yet go home to your family and have a separate life so that the person remains balance. Example Answer: Tell them a little about how you were raised and developed values and responsibility tell them something that is not in your resume. 4. Why should we hire you? Are you the best candidate for the job? Be prepared to say why. Make your response a concise sales pitch that explains what you have to offer the employer, and why you should get the job. This is your chance to show how much you want the job and that you are perfect for it. Give examples of what you have done, accomplished and plan to do if you were hired. A good idea is to think about how you would approach the job if you have a sense of what they are looking for in an employee; just reiterate it. Example Answer: I have Esthetician Sample Questions and Interview Tips Page 7

several years experience in this field and my skills adequately fits this position. I plan on setting goals and expectations so that processes are streamlined and procedures are developed and continued to be adhered to. You need someone to jump into this position and work with minimal supervision; I will be the most proactive person for this job. 5. What are your salary expectations? What are you looking for in terms of salary? It seems like a simple question, but your answer can knock you out of content for the job if you overprice yourself. This is a pit fall; obviously. If the interview is stern at wanting to know what your salary expectations are, you can still answer a question with a question. First try and ask what he would offer you based on your skills and experience and the company s overall expectations. Here's the best way to answer questions about salary. Example Answer: I feel I am at the point of my career and skill set to adequately be compensated, so when the time has come for the position to be offered to me, we can negotiate my compensation if this does not work, stay within 5% of your current salary and provide them with a range. 6. Why are you leaving or have left your job? When asked about why you are moving on, stick with the facts, be direct and focus your interview answer on the future, especially if your leaving wasn't under the best of circumstances. Unfortunately, there is no way around this question; so be honest, it might be possible that they can find out or already found out. Example Answer: The company has not been moving as fast as I want to grow in the position and a change of career/company is a strategic career move. 7. Why do you want this job? This question gives you an opportunity to show the interviewer what you know about the job and the company. Be specific about what makes you a good fit for this role, and mention aspects of the company and position that appeal to you. Research the company you are interviewing with and if you even know your interviewer, you can relate to them. Chances are your interview can be found on LinkedIn, Monster or Indeed. Example Answer: I want this job because this company is what I ve been looking for in a stable company that seems to care for its employees; this position coincides well with my needs and skill set. 8. How do you handle stress and pressure? What do you do when things don t go smoothly at work? The best way to respond to this question is to give an example of how you have handled stress in a previous job. This is another problem question where your answer could count as a negative impact towards your candidacy. Example Answer: I handle stress and pressure well. I manage to stay calm and collective; organize my task and duties, priorities my workload; and attack! Esthetician Sample Questions and Interview Tips Page 8

9. Describe a difficult work situation / project and how you overcame it. The interviewer wants to know what you do when you face a difficult decision. As with the question about stress, be prepared to share an example of what you did in a tough situation. This could work against you so be careful what you say and how you say it. Example Answer: The formula s on my spreadsheet project were not working. I visited several online forums and found expert advice and worked through what was causing the issues in the existing formula s. 10. What are your goals for the future? This question is designed to find out if you re going to stick around or move on as soon as you find a better opportunity. Keep your answer focused on the job and the company you re interviewing with. You can find out more about the employer s ambitions for the position or the company and centralize your answer based on that information. Example Answer: Expand the department by growing the staff and potential products and sales. Bonus Questions Here are some related questions that you may be asked during a job interview that require some thought to answer. Consider how you'd respond so you're as prepared as possible to answer the hiring manager's questions. How do you handle success? How do you handle failure? Do you work well with other people? What can you do better for us than the other applicants? Questions to ask your Interviewer (Take Notes with their responses): 1. How would you best describe the culture here? 2. What are your expectations for the one that will be hired for this position? 3. What are a few benchmarks that you would like to see from me in the next few months (or years) of working here? 4. Can you describe your management style? 5. How has the latest tax law (business law, market pertaining to company or otherwise) effected this Company? (Research before you ask) Esthetician Sample Questions and Interview Tips Page 9
