Coconut, Lime and Ginger Salt Glow Scrub The first time I experienced a lime and ginger salt scrub was on a Disney Cruise. I went to the spa and they used the Elemis Lime and Ginger Salt Glow during my pedicure. It was amazing! When I got home I bought some but wow!-$60 so I decided to try to make my own. This is a good replica! Coconut oil is an excellent hydrator for the skin. Combined with the salt, lime and ginger you will get a super exfoliation when using this. Your skin will feel soft and smooth, plus you will smell amazing! ½ cup coarse sea salt ¼ cup coconut oil 1 teaspoon pulverized ginger 20 drops lime essential oil 15 drops ginger essential oil Instructions: Mix the salt and ginger root together with a fork until well blended. Add the coconut oil into the mix. Add the ginger and lime essential oils and mix well. Transfer to a (preferably) glass container.
Raspberry Lemon Facial Peel Raspberries and turmeric are loaded with good stuff! Antioxidants, phytochemicals, polyphenols, vitamins and minerals! What makes them so good for us on the inside is exactly what makes them good for our skin. Packed with ellagic acid, an antioxidant that helps reduce sun damage and preserve collagen, helping to reduce the appearance of wrinkles. The acid from the lemon juice and raspberries helps slough off the dead skin cells along with the exfoliating action of the sugar. Honey is a natural antibacterial agent and helps to hydrate the skin. All that combined together makes a fabulous homemade facial peel! 1 Tablespoon fresh raspberries (mashed up) ½ teaspoon lemon juice 1 pinch turmeric 1 With a mortar and pestle, blend the raspberries, lemon juice, turmeric until well combined. Stir in the honey being sure not to overmix. Yes-there will be seeds! Using a fan brush apply in a thin layer to the face, allowing it to dry for 10 to 15 minutes. Avoid getting near your eyes. Using warm water and a muslin cloth rinse off to reveal a gorgeous complexion! Moisturize as usual.
Oatmeal & Avocado Calming Mask Some of us that have sensitive skin can t tolerate scrubs made of salt or sugar because they can be too harsh. Oatmeal is the perfect solution for skin that is easily irritated. The oatmeal calms the skin, reduces redness while the avocado supplies the rich essential fatty acids for moisturizing. This easy recipe can be whipped up in minutes for when you need a hydration yet exfoliating treatment. 1 Avocado, pit and skin removed ¼ cup dry oatmeal 2 Tablespoons organic honey Instructions: In a blender or food processor blend the oats until they are a fine consistency. I actually prefer to use a mortar and pestle for all my blending. Plus it's a handy kitchen tool. Add the avocado and honey. Mix until well combined. Using a fan brush or your fingers apply a thin even layer to your face and neck. Let dry for 15 to 20 minutes. Using a warm, damp washcloth place over face and neck for 2-3 minutes to soften mask, then gently remove remainder of mask to reveal a glowing complexion! Apply moisturizer as usual.
Cooling Cucumber Yogurt Mask This mask is a go to for when you need some cooling down, whether you got too much sun or have dry irritated skin. The good news is that you can use this mask even if you have sensitive skin Cucumbers contain ingredients vital for healthy skin: antioxidants, vitamins A and C, caffeic acid, and lots of hydration! The peel actually contains silica which can help firm up sagging skin, with antioxidants to help reduce swelling and irritation. Yogurt contains lactic acid, which helps to gently remove dirt and dead skin cells while giving hydration to needy skin. If you add a little lemon juice and some dill you can even use it as a salad dressing! This is a win win recipe for sure! ½ medium cucumber, peeled 2 Tablespoons full fat plain yogurt Instructions: In a food processor or blender lightly puree the cucumber. Place in a bowl, add the yogurt and whip together using a whisk or fork to form a thick mixture. Apply evenly to face and let sit for 10 to 15 minutes. Gently rinse with warm water.
Anti-Cellulite Coffee Wrap The magic ingredient here is caffeine! The coffee grounds help stimulate the blood flow to the surface of the skin and temporarily flush out the water in the connective tissue. Coffee contains tons of polyphenols and is a diuretic after all! The almond oil adds extra antioxidants for the skin along with the salt for extra exfoliating! This makes your skin feel tingly and alive! It is a bit messy so be sure to apply in the shower. 1 Cup coffee grounds (they may be used but cooled off!) 3 Tablespoons almond oil 3 Tablespoons fine sea salt (sugar may be used as an alternative) Instructions: Place coffee grounds in a small container. Add the almond oil and salt. Using a fork mix until well combined. You may want to stand in the shower when applying this as it does tend to get a little messy. Apply coffee mixture to area you want to treat such as thighs. You can wrap in plastic wrap if you wish and let sit for 20 minutes. Remove wrap while in the shower and gently rub in circular motion for several minutes before rinsing.
