She is the prodigious design talent behind Spencer & Rutherford and her wonderful, eclectic personal style and artistic flair is stamped on every stunning piece. She is a designer who lives and breathes her craft. It s so satisfying to me as a designer, having women respond in such passionate ways to our bags. So many women tell me they receive lots of compliments on their handbags. If I have played a small part in that lovely moment in their day, then I am really happy. Since its launch in early 1999, Spencer & Rutherford has successfully established itself as a unique brand, with glamourous design, luxurious fabrics and impeccable quality. All products are designed in Melbourne and crafted by only the finest artisans. Spencer & Rutherford prides itself on producing the most exquisite handbags, luggage and accessories in the market. With Spencer & Rutherford Limited, you will only find the lushest, richest details and trims and most ornate fabrics. The range includes handbags dazzling enough for evening soirées and pieces made entirely from exclusively designed leather, for the ultimate in quintessential day bags. Denotes Spencer & Rutherford Limited Edition The detail that goes into making a Spencer & Rutherford bag is paramount to the end product. Many people ask us Where do your bags come from?... and the answer is complex! The bags themselves are designed in Melbourne, but with an International flavour! The fabrics are resourced from around the globe - embroideries from India and Spain, lace from France and traditional weaves and prints from the United Kingdom. Leather is made to order from specified colour swatches to match with the fabrics and depending on the type of leather required the skins come from Italy, Brazil, Argentina and India. Faux-leather, PU and PVC is manufactured in China, so naturally the majority of our non-limited styles which are fabricated in these materials, are also made in China. Our leather limited styles are now handcrafted in India. In terms of construction, Kim goes to great lengths to ensure that every detail of the drawings of the bags are followed down to the last metal stud. Many hours go into the design so it is extremely important that the designs are followed meticulously, colour swatches are matched perfectly and that the beautiful soft furnishing fabrics used are treated with respect, care and love. Kim travels several times a year to visit the small manufacturers that proudly make our handbags, wallets and accessories, and likes to enjoy their hospitality and lifestyle. The factories that we use are family owned, smaller and equipped to handle the necessary detail and handwork that each design requires. We insist that all workers are treated fairly and know they take pride in the work they produce for us.
