SMOOTH REALIGNMENT SYSTEM ph 1.8 the j beverly hills smooth realignment system is a formaldehyde free smoothing system that makes the hair more shiny and smooth for 3-5 months. - our smooth realignment system is 100% formaldehyde free and does not contain formaldehyde derivitives. - the treatment is able to be done the same days as any j beverly hills colour service, both before and after with no adverse effect when properly applied. - built to weaken specific bonds in the hair and will then realign the bonds to generate smoother, straighter texture with no harmful chemicals. - j beverly hills has developed a smooth anti-frizz aftercare line that assits in enabling consitient, long lasting results for our smooth realignment system. Other formaldehyde and brazilian keratin treatments: typically a keratin treatment takes a batch of proteins and combines them with a strong preservative (formaldehyde) to achieve an effective, long lasting coating on the outside of the hair. formaldehyde: formaldehyde is a colour-less, strong smelling gas which can pose health risks to those who are exposed to it. these symptoms can range from anything such as a sore throat, nose bleeds, flu like symptoms and in a more serious case, it is known to cause cancer.
MECHANISM OF ACTION the smooth realignment system will penetrate just past the cuticle to the outermost area of the cortex where our primary ingredients will realign the position of the cystine bonds. during this process we are depositing proteins and other nourishing botanicals to condition and improve the style ability of the hair. * smooth will provide immediate results and achieve up to 100% straight, frizz free, hair depending on curl pattern and porosity of the hair before the first treatment. new diagram key
SMOOTH AND J BEVERLY HILLS COLOUR on the same day the smooth realignment system has been formulated at a low ph level of 1.8, so it will directly impact the way that the clients coloured hair will look. It is not uncommon for the hair to lighten up to one level and it is important to take that into consideration during the consultation and colour formulation. - utlize the j beverly hills 5 step process for colour formation LIFTING COLOUR when lifting hair colour with j beverly hills soft lightener or max lightener, it is recommended that it is done before the smooth treatment. when there is going to be more ammonia or peroxide based formulation then the colour should be applied before the smooth service is done and this usually happens when we are lightening hair with highlight and high lift blondes. DEPOSITING COLOUR when depositing j beverly hills colour it is recommended that it is done after the smooth treatment. GREY COVERAGE when applying for resistant grey coverage or when doing a root retouch before the smooth service is performed then it is recommended that you formulate a level below the target shade to compensate for any lift that may occur during the treatment. LIFT AND DEPOSIT (DOUBLE PROCESS) when lifting and depositing is being done on the same client it is recommended that you lift colour before the smooth treatment and then deposit the colour after the smooth treatment.
APPLICATION PROCESS 1. consultation 2. clarify twice (do not over stimulate the scalp) 3. remove 90-100% of moisture with a vent brush 4. spray pre-boost on the hair 5. apply the smooth solution 6. process hair for 30 minutes 7. lightly rinse excess residue from the hair for 10 minutes 8. blow dry hair 9. flat iron the hair until a soft and silky finish is achieved 10. DETAILED APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS 1. consultation determine the texture and density of the clients hair. find out if they want colour done and what products they currently use at home, briefly explain the smooth retail products. 2. clarify the hair use the smooth clarifying shampoo, shampoo the head until it is clean. depending on the clients hair, you may need to clarify multiple times. Clarify at least twice. 3. remover at least 90% of the moisture be sure to remove 90-100% of the moisture from the hair. A little moisture will help the hair absorb the solution and too much will dilute the smooth solution. 4. spray pre-boost on the hair ensure you spray the pre-boost all over the hair. 5. apply the smooth solution using 1/8 to 1/4 sections (depending on the density and texture of the hair). Start in the most resistant area first, the nape. Start at the bottom and work your way up. Lightly apply the product from roots to ends with an application brush. Take your C-101 fine tooth comb and comb through, this allows the smooth solution to disperse evenly and will also remove any excess product from the hair. 6. process hair for 30 minutes let the hair sit for 30 minutes minimum. If the hair has a thick, more resistant texture, it is important to let it process longer. If it is finer and more damaged, then it will not need to process as long to saturate the hair. 7. lightly rinse excess residue once the solution has processed for the appropriate time, lightly rinse the hair to avoid unnecessary residue buildup. 8. blow-dry hair remove all of the moisture using a round natural boar bristle brush and blow drier. it is normal to get some steam during this process. if it is smoking a lot, too much product was applied. 9. flat iron minimum of 3-5 times. This activates our main ingredient and is a very important step. use small 1/8-1/4 sections and work the root first with a minimum of 3 medium speed passes. Follow through with the mid length and ends of the hair. your flat iron temperature should be set between 325f or 200-225c. Again, thicker and more resistant hair requires higher heat, fine and fragile hair requires less heat. To be safe, set the flat iron temperature for the most sensitized hair and do a test strand. 10. rinse and condition hair if needed this is an optional step. If the feeling in the clients hair is undesirable you can rinse, condition and style the hair directly after the service with no adverse effects to the smooth treatment. do not shampoo, only rinse the hair and advise the client to wait 48 hours before using shampoo.

FLAT IRON TEMPERATURE SETTINGS j beverly hills smooth realignment system heals, straightens and smoothes the hair. we deposit nourishing proteins that are able to protect the hair from heat, providing great results without damage. - when the hair is protein deficient it is smart to use less heat to avoid any heat damage. - we are able to rebuild the protein in the hair with mulitple applications over time. - if the hair has no protein for our treatment to adhere to, it will leave the hair exposed to potential heat damage, specifically at the ends where the hair is more senitive and fragile. - each persons hair is different, therefore the heat settings will be dependant on the clients hair texture and their desired result. - the heat from the flat iron activates the important ingredients in the realignment system, so it is vital to pay close attention to the hair s response when adding the heat. PRE-BOOST pre-boost is an extremely concentrated protein treatment designed for the stylist to use prior to chemical services. this is not a retail item and is designed specifically for professional use only. pre-boost prepares the hair structure for chemical processing as it is packed with the highest grade of proteins and infused with conditioning agents, humectants, vitamin b and amino acids. this slight alkaline spray is remarkable in its ability to prepare and fortify the hair for a j beverly hills colour application.
