INTRODUCTION When you meet with your Funeral Director to discuss the funeral arrangements he will ask if you have any specific wishes with regards to your loved one s cremated remains (ashes). We understand that this can be a difficult decision and one that you may wish to discuss in private with your family. We have designed this brochure to give an overview of the options available to you. Hopefully this will be of some help to you, and your Funeral Director is always available to offer any further guidance. AFTER THE FUNERAL Following the funeral there are a number of options available regarding your loved one s cremated remains (ashes). If you wish to collect your loved one s ashes from us, we would recommend contacting us 24-hours in advance. This will ensure that we have them ready for your collection. Please contact our office on 01642 611716. Usually the ashes will be collected by the person that made the funeral arrangements (i.e. the client or next of kin). We are able to provide the ashes to another family member but only on instruction from the client / next of kin. Therefore if it will be another family member attending our premises please confirm these details when you contact us to arrange the collection. Our office staff are in attendance at our premises Monday Friday 9.00am 5.00pm and on Saturdays 9.30am 12.30pm. SCATTERING It is becoming increasingly popular to scatter the ashes of your loved one. Ashes can be strewn in the Garden of Remembrance at the crematorium and there is an option for family to attend if they wish. Alternatively, the ashes can be returned to the family for private scattering, perhaps in a favourite location or across water. SCATTERING OVERSEAS TAKING THE ASHES ABROAD If you wish to take your loved one s ashes abroad for scattering, please let us know. We can provide you with the necessary signed documentation to carry with you when you travel. Please note, some of the items shown in this brochure are made to order and although many are available within 3-5 working days, delivery times can vary, please ask your Funeral Director or a member of staff for further advice in this regard 4
INTERMENT AND BURIAL For many the ideal way to say farewell to a loved one is by burying or interring their ashes. A standard solid oak casket can be used or there are alternative options available. The ashes can be interred in a new or existing grave your Funeral Director can provide details of local cemeteries and churchyards. TO KEEP AT HOME For some people it may be a comfort to keep a loved one s ashes at home. We have a selection of ashes caskets and decorative urns that have been specifically designed for keeping at home. MEMORIAL JEWELLERY AND KEEPSAKES We also offer an extensive range of memorial jewellery and keepsakes, designed as a way to preserve the memory of your loved one. The integration of cremation ashes or a lock of hair within the jewellery helps to create a beautiful and lasting tribute. We only work with the leading suppliers of memorial jewellery, who like ourselves, are committed to the highest standards and care. We do have some items on display at our premises and a brochure is available on request. In this case we will arrange for the cremated remains to be returned to our Chapel of Rest whilst we await your further instructions. 5
FOR SCATTERING With it becoming increasingly popular to scatter the ashes of your loved one, perhaps in a favourite location or across water, then one of our scatter tubes or boxes will assist you in completing your wishes. The tubes are bio-degradable and specifically designed to release the ashes quickly and with ease, making it a simple and respectful choice.
CARDBOARD SCATTER TUBES These tubes for scattering come in two sizes and are designed and engineered to simplify the scattering process. The tubes are durable, dignified and simple to use. They do not contain metal or plastic components and can be recycled or composted after use. Each features a convenient, removable lid and a perforated push in tab that opens easily prior to scattering. Included below are some of the designs we have available. The box (and urn) will pass through airport security screenings and can fit in the overhead compartment of most commercial airliners. WATER BURIAL Biodegradable water urns are designed specifically for that purpose and will float briefly to allow a final farewell before gracefully sinking. They are sustainably produced in a variety of natural materials, including recycled paper, rock salt, gelatin, and sand. Although they were designed for water burial, all of these urns can also be used for earth burial.

BESPOKE URNS AND KEEPSAKES These wooden ashes urns are truly special. All are individually crafted from salvaged timber by master woodturner Phil Irons. Best known for his vessels and hollow forms with their clear, beautiful shapes and flowing lines, Phil describes his hands as functional art. His knowledge and appreciation of English timbers was initially gained from working as a tree surgeon and forrester for several years. With no two pieces of wood ever being identical, the uniqueness of each urn develops through a process of being dried and hand turned over a number of days.
