DRESS CODE Imagine Charter School at Firestone is dedicated to creating a positive environment that is conducive to learning. The purpose of having and enforcing a dress code is to: Foster a school environment that is conducive to learning, free of unnecessary distractions and comparisons, Ensure an orderly and safe learning environment, Promote neatness and modesty, Avoid pitfalls of cool fads or styles, and Encourage the virtues of moderation and consideration of others. Students are expected to be well-groomed, dressed in a manner reflecting respect for themselves and those around them, and to use good judgment in the choices they make. Dress Code Specific Guidelines: Clothing: Clothing should be neat, clean, well-fitted, and age-appropriate. Clothing should be neither too tight nor too baggy, and not ripped or torn. It should reflect a simple style that includes no adornments such as lace, frills, ruffles, tulle, sequins, rivets or sparkles. Pants: Cotton blend trouser style. Internal seam with no visible stitching. Any/all pockets must be internal (not visible on outside of pant.) Solid color: navy, black or tan. Acceptable pant styles: full-length and Capri length. Shorts must be knee length.

Skirts/shorts/skorts/jumpers/dresses: Uniform style jumpers or skirts or polo shirt style dresses only. Solid color: navy, black or tan. Knee length regardless of whether or not tights are worn. Students are encouraged to wear shorts in dress code colors underneath skirts, dresses, or jumpers, to maintain modesty. Shirts Shirts must be plain collared styles: Polo, Oxford, Peter Pan or Pointy collar blouse (No lace trim), Turtleneck. Short or long sleeve. Sleeves must cover shoulders. Any solid color. (A small, discreet logo about the size of a quarter in pocket area is acceptable).

Shirts must be of a tuckable length, but do not have to be tucked in. They are not to be cinched, tied, or knotted in any way. Undershirts may be worn with the collared shirt, provided they are a solid color and must be tucked into bottoms. Long or short sleeve Puma PrideWear may be worn. Sweaters/Sweatshirts V-neck or crew neck sweatshirts or plain knit sweaters or cardigans may be worn over dress code shirt. No hoods. No kangaroo pockets. Puma PrideWear crewneck sweatshirts may be worn over dress code shirts.

Socks/Leggings Tights or leggings may be worn under bottoms (if desired) and must be white, navy blue, black, or tan. Socks must be one solid color. Shoes/Footwear Shoes may be any color and must have a closed toe and heel. NO lights, characters, wheels, Crocs, jellies, clogs, flip-flops, or sandals. NO boots may be worn inside. Heels cannot be higher than 1. For safety reasons, laces must be tied, straps and buckles secured. Shoes for PE: Socks and Athletic style shoe (running shoe, basketball shoe, volleyball shoe, Converse). Shoes must be traditionally laced and tied at all times for safety and support. Non-marking soles are requested. Headwear Hats, visors, hoods, bandanas, sunglasses, etc. must be removed indoors. All hair accessories must be small and discreet. Hair Hair should be clean and neat. Hair should be a naturally occurring hair color. Any extensions must be in naturally occurring hair color. Hair should be worn in a style that is not distracting to the educational environment. Teachers and/or Leadership will make this determination. Jewelry & Adornments Students should not have visible piercings except for standard size, ageappropriate earrings. An object that has a purpose other than jewelry cannot be worn as jewelry (i.e. animal chains or collars).

Permanent or temporary tattoos are not to be visible during school hours. No scarves should be worn inside. All ties must be solid color in blue, black, or tan. Middle school girls will be permitted to wear natural looking make-up. Outerwear Coats must be removed when indoors. If snow or rain boots are worn, students must bring compliant footwear to change into once they are inside their classroom. Scarves, hats, gloves, mittens, and ear warmers are not to be worn in school. Other Guidelines: Any items that contain negative messages are inappropriate and unacceptable. These include, but are not limited to: Vulgarity, profanity, or inappropriate language. Gang related symbols or references. Reference to tobacco or any illegal substances, such as drugs or alcohol. Sexually suggestive or pornographic images or sayings. Violent or death images, including Goth appearance and skulls. Advocacy of racial, ethnic, political, or religious prejudice. If at any time due to medical needs a student is unable to comply completely with the dress code, a written note from a physician is needed, and a conference with the student and his/her parent/guardian may be required in order to determine the best way a student may honor the dress code and remain comfortable and healthy. Parents and students are expected to follow the spirit of the dress code and not try to find loopholes. Following the dress code both in its description and spirit demonstrates the type of character we want to help instill in our students. Issues not specifically stated herein that violate the intent of this dress code will be deemed inappropriate. While a student may be technically in compliance with the uniform and dress code, they may be in violation of the spirit or purpose of the dress code. School staff has the authority to determine if dress is in violation. Students, with parent support, are expected to adhere to the dress code. Teachers will be checking students dress regularly. Infractions will be noted and student and/or parents may be notified. If, in the sole opinion of any administrator, staff or faculty member, a student is in violation of the policies or purposes of the uniform and dress code, it is expected that they come into immediate compliance. Continual and/or willful violation of the uniform and dress code will result in disciplinary action which may include suspension.

If you have a question about an item, please call the school before purchasing. The school is not responsible for school clothing purchases that do not comply with dress code. LOGIC ACADEMY DRESS CODE ADDENDUM. All items not specified, default to I-JICA Grade Description of Dress Code Policy Grades 5-8 Logic Academy Students will be allowed: o Polo/Collared shirts of the same style as the original policy with either solid color or two-color stripes. If an undershirt is worn, it should be a solid color and must not be visible except at the collar and sleeves. o Solid color or two-color striped pullovers (sweater or sweatshirt material) or collared fleece items are allowed over collared shirts. They must not exceed hip length and may have buttons or zippers. If they have a logo, it must be small and discreet no larger than the size of a quarter in the pocket area. No kangaroo pockets. No hoods. o Pants and shorts in navy, black, or khaki as in the original policy are allowed. In addition boot cut, tapered or straight leg navy, black, or khaki denim jeans with medium or high rise waist and denim jean shorts (no cut offs) with no rips or tears are allowed. Pants must fit in a professional fashion and should neither be skin tight nor overly baggy. Shorts must be of a length no shorter than just above the knee and no longer than just below the knee. No skinny jeans/jeggings/leggings, etc. are allowed as pants.

o o Solid color skirts/dresses in navy blue, black, or khaki as in the original policy and jean skirts are allowed. They must be of a length no shorter than just above the knee and no longer than just below the knee. Boots with minimal heels, tennis shoes and other closed toed footwear. It is expected students are still prepared for Physical Education with appropriate athletic shoes. CONSEQUENCES FOR INABILITY TO FOLLOW POLICY: 1st Offense - the student is warned, parent is contacted and the electronic tracking form is completed (SWIS). 2nd Offense - the student is asked to call home and speak with their parent. The electronic form is completed (SWIS). 3rd Offense - the student calls home and remains in the office until they are compliant with the dress code. The electronic form is completed (SWIS).
