Some families know exactly what they will do as their loved one left instructions. To be able to follow their wishes can bring comfort to a grieving family. It is important to make a decision about the ashes to bring closure and help you with the grieving process. There are a few options available and the following suggestions may be helpful in making the most appropriate choice for your family. MEMORIAL GARDEN Most crematoriums and cemeteries have attractive commemorative areas in their rose gardens, native shrub gardens, wall niches or other features. An inscribed plaque identifies the memorial position where the ashes have been placed. The memorial positions and plaques can be organised through the preferred crematorium or cemetery. PLACING IN AN EXISTING GRAVE Most cemeteries permit the placing of the ashes into an existing grave. This is done in conjunction with the relevant cemetery trust or city council, and the family member or person who owns the grave. If you are considering this option please contact us and we will provide the appropriate contact for direction regarding this process. TAKING ASHES OVERSEAS When traveling overseas with ashes you will require a Certificate of Cremation and a letter provided by our company. SCATTERING THE ASHES Your loved one may have expressed the wish for their ashes to be scattered. The location is usually one of significance for them and their family - at a special park, lake, golf course, fishing spot or beach. The ashes can be scattered from the container they are received in or you can have them placed into a scattering tube or a water urn. Most families choose to scatter themselves although arrangements can be made to have the ashes scattered for you. DECORATIVE URNS If a family choose to keep the ashes, there are several choices available. They can be kept in the container provided or placed into a decorative urn. We have a wide variety of urns, including keepsake urns, ideal for when family members want to each keep a portion. These can be viewed over the next few pages and at our Wallsend or Belmont offices. JEWELLERY PENDANTS A beautiful way to keep your loved one close to you. We have sterling silver, gold, rose gold and onyx plated pendants. All hold a small amount of your loved one s ashes.
