Buffer available in many other shapes Contraindications Fungal nail infections o Contagious o Fungal infections thrive in warm damp environments o Nails can look brittle or crumbly, they can appear thicker or distorted in shape o There can be a discolouration under the nail bed o In some cases, an infected nail can separate from the nail bed
Athletes food o Another form of fungal infection o Very contagious o There are different forms some people will suffer from redness, itchiness, blisters, sores and flaking of the skin Eczema o Not contagious o Body s reaction to something it sees as an irritant o Can be itchy, with dry red flaky patches the skin can sometimes crack Verruca s o Very contagious o A form of wart on the foot o Can be quite painful Callouses and corns o Formed from an abnormal amount of pressure being applied to an area poor choice in footwear Bunions o Enlarged bony bit behind the big toe Diabetics not contraindicated but must be cautious o Due to chance of nerve damage and loss of feeling, always ensure temperature isn t too hot o Inspect feet for a tears in the skin that might have gone unnoticed Steps for a Fully Inclusive Pedicure 1. Hard skin removal use a foot file or pumice i. Use on dry skin at the start of the treatment ii. Gently in back and forth motion iii. Have towel under your feet to catch the dead skin cells that comes off iv. Use only on areas of hard skin 2. Foot Soak i. Warm water in foot spa or basin ii. Introduce Epsom salts or essential oils 3. Foot scrub i. Remove feet from warm and massage in foot scrub ii. Rinse feet in foot spa or basin 4. Dry feet thoroughly i. Damp areas area breathing ground for bacteria 5. Moisturise
i. Due to the removal of your hard skin, the moisturiser will penetrate much deeper into your skin now ii. Take your time with this step as it will relieve stress 6. Cuticles i. Using your cuticle pusher or orange wood stick, gently push back your cuticles ii. Remove any dead cuticle using your cuticle nipper the buffer will remove any that has adhered to your nailbed 7. Buff - This will remove any ridges, discolouration or cuticle that is adhered to your nail 8. File 9. Polish (optional) 10. Apply cuticle oil Steps for a Fully Inclusive Manicure 1. Remove polish with non-acetone remover (less drying) 2. Cleanse hands thoroughly all the way up to your elbow 3. Nail brush gently cleanse under your nails 4. Massage in scrub up to the elbow to exfoliate the skin, increase circulation and lymphatic drainage 5. Optional - Apply a hydrating mask (optional) i. Put on plastic bags ii. Place hands in heated mitts (or heated towels) this will enable the ingredients of the mask to penetrate deeper into the skin 6. Rinse off and dry hands thoroughly 7. Massage in moisturiser up to the elbow 8. Cuticles gently push back and remove dead skin, this will elongate your nails in preparation for the polish 9. Buff - This will remove any ridges, discolouration or cuticle that is adhered to your nail 10. File pick your shape from the slides, use the 240 grit file flat against the nail and in one direction only 11. Polish directions to follow 12. Apply cuticle oil this will nourish your cuticles and finish off your manicure Steps for the perfect polish
1. Wipe nails remove any oils from the nail that may prevent the polish from adhering to the nail with non-acetone remove. ALWAYS do before you apply polish! 2. Ensure you work on a flat surface with room to move your hand and arm 3. Apply base coat i. Used to protect the nails from staining if you are using darker colours and to increase the longevity of your polish ii. Start on one little finger and gradually make your way across to the other little finger iii. Your application should be right down to but not touching the cuticle 4. Base, colour and top should be applied in 3 strokes i. The first in the middle down as far as the cuticle but not touching and to the very top. ii. Then sweeping around to the left and up to the top of the nail and to the right up to the top of the nail iii. This will change depending on the size of the nail you re working on Base coat works to protect the nail plate from staining and to smooth out and imperfections or ridges and allow for a more pristine polish 5. Product control don t have too much or too little product on your brush, for a standard size nail you shouldn t need to redip your brush in the polish bottle. 6. Apply first coat of colour i. The aim of your fist coat is to be even and will mean your second coat is just to deepen the colour rather than hide any flaws. 7. Apply second coat i. This will even (if necessary) and deepen the colour ii. Make sure to bring the polish and cover the tips of your nails as well to seal the nails 8. Apply top coat i. Wait for the second coat to dry for a minute or two before beginning this application ii. Will seal the polish, make it last longer iii. Will give extra shine but also available in matt finish Top coat comes in different finishes matt, extra shine etc. It will strengthen the finished polish and prevent it from chipping as easily 9. Tidy up the nails with a cotton bud and polish remover if necessary 10. Apply cuticle oil i. Again wait a few mins for the top coat to set before applying ii. Don t rub in as you will smudge your nails
iii. Will finish off the polish, nourish your cuticles and take the sticky feel from your polish Massage will increase your circulatory system and therefore your lymphatic system helping to encourage oxygenated rich blood cells and nutrients to the areas being treated and flushing out toxins. It will work to reduce tension and stress in the muscles which can help illuminate muscular spasms and knots. It also has a positive impact on the entire system and the mood of the person. Notes
