Bureau Veritas supports its customers in implementing the strict regulations relating to European Cosmetics law (Cosmetics Directive) in complying with the German Cosmetics Regulation (Kosmetik-V) and in all other required registrations. We offer advisory services regarding all aspects of assuring product quality for all those who produce, supply and market cosmetic products. Our laboratories provide individual solutions to chemical, physical, microbiological or dermatological issues from a single source. We conduct physiochemical quality tests, analyses and content specifications for active ingredients, additives and contaminants in all cosmetic product categories. We offer a variety of testing services for the entire range of cosmetic agents, such as a review of quality-related properties, as well as qualitative and quantitative analysis of substances, additives and possible contaminants. The test kits take into account the type of product and the area of application intended, so that individually established test programs are optimally tailored to legal requirements for each product class. Physiochemical analysis Microbiological analysis All cosmetics used for cleansing, conditioning and ornamentation are among others assessed to ensure for example that their substances are innocuous and of high quality. Documentation obligations Declaration Bureau Veritas supports manufacturers, dealers and importers of cosmetics products in complying with their obligations regarding documentation and information according to Kosmetik-V/ Cosmetics Directive. Check on completeness of the following documents: Documentation regarding the qualitative or quantitative composition of the product Physio-chemical and microbiological specifications of the raw materials and the endproduct Documents that provide evidence that the products have been manufactured according to GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) Review of the Labelling to EU-Regulations Obligatory declaration of the manufactrer List of ingredients based on the composition Warnings Advice and assistance for the preparation and elaboration of the declaration We evaluate Borderline-Products regarding to the affiliation of the product group (toys, cosmetics, food etc.) and the marketability. Safety evaluation of cosmetic product Name and Adress of the Safety Evaluator. Data on undesiable effects on human health Proof of effectiveness of a cosmetic product Data on all animal experiments Assistance on meeting obligations to notify and report in accordance with 5d of the German Cosmetics Regulation/ Article 7a of Cosmetics Directive. The manufacturer is required to notify the authority responsible for monitoring cosmetic agents in whose area of competencey the place of manufacture is located as to where in the European Union the manufacturer is manufacturing these products before the cosmetics are launched onto the market for the first time. Performance of audits and review of GMP The German Cosmetics Regulation/ Cosmetics Directive requires that the manufacture of cosmetic products be performes the rules of Good Manufacturing Practice. Bureau Veritas can support you in this area as well. We offer world-wide audits and inspections, starting at the point of incoming raw material checks, inspections at the beginning, during and at the end of production, loading checks, social audits at suppliers premises (e.g. BSCI - Business Social Compliance Initiative) and supplier audits according to GMP standards, as well as additional special services.
