Filet and embroidery in silk on linen, the top quadrants in colorful filet, pulled threads and drawn work in geometric patterns, center section in cross stitch having trees, house, deer, bird, squirrels and carnations with partial inscription "Dechado de concepcion de Jes...", the lower quadrants with cross stitch floral bands. 10 1/2 x 12. Bands of assorted stitch patterns in silk on natural linen along with numerals and "DE MANO DE" lacking name. 14 3/8 x 16. Scattered small, light stains, good. $92.00 581 MEXICAN CONVENT EMBROIDERY by MARIA PETRA TERUEL, HEROINE of INDEPENDENCE, 1784. Natural linen having bands of various stitch patterns, monkeys, birds and flowers worked in silk "LOLABRO DONA MARIA PETRA TERUEL EN EL COLEGIO DE LA COMPANIA DE MARIA...ENSENANZA DE MEXICO DEL ANO DE 1784". Married to a wealthy planter, de Valasco, Teruel became a "Maid Marion" helping insurgents and protecting prisoners in the early 19th C. 17 3/4 x 15 1/4. Cream satin with floral appliques, gold metallic and sequin decoration, possibly a chalice cover. 15 x 18. Natural linen embroidered with cross in shield and "Ave Maria J.M.J.T. Alabo a Dios, Cobento del Desierto. De su sacristia: ano 1754. 15 x 19. Splits to silks, some stains, fair-good. $80.50 583 AMERICAN CROSS STITCH NEEDLE WORK SAMPLER, 1810. Long vertical panel decorated with various floral and animal elements including dog, goose, birds, flowers, willow tree, initialed "M M" as a crown carried by doves and dated 1810, beneath willow at bottom the initial "S". 10 1/2 x 20. Excellent. $373.75 584 QUAKER LINEN NEEDLEWORK, 1844. Executed in silk on linen by Lydia A. Walton in the "House on Hill" style, with rose and vine border on the sides, the top center a pious verse between floral bouquets and her parents initials over flowers and vines, "Lydia A. Walton" above her teacher's name "Paulina G. Roberts Preceptress" over house with garden and animals. Appears to retain original wood backing. 16 1/4 x 20 3/4. Under glass with wood frame. Excellent. $2,000.00 585 QUAKER LINEN NEEDLEWORK, 1834. Executed in silk on linen by Martha P. Roberts in basket of flowers design, having a berry and vine border on two sides with seven large and two small floral bouquets surrounding "Martha P. Roberts 1834" over a basket of flowers flanked by willow trees. Lot includes note of family provenance. 17 1/2 x 17. Appears to retain original back board and frame. Excellent. $1,400.00 586 WOOL JACQUARD COVERLET, 1836. Navy blue and ecru loomed in two widths in a reversible pattern of flower and star medallions, bordered on three sides with trees and eagles, the lower corner blocks read "1836, Groton N. York L.T." 76 x 86. (Edges fraying, small stain, some wear at top) good. $143.75 587 APOTHEOSIS of FRANKLIN and WASHINGTON TOILE BEDCOVER, ENGLISH for EXPORT c. 1790. Bleached cotton with red copperplate printed Liberty allegorical scenes, in three panels 31 x 83, pieced with an additional 14 inches at top, 97 x 91 1/2, tape bound edges. Belonged to Revolutionary War surgeon Dr. Albigence Waldo who served under Gen. Israel Putnam and was stationed at Valley Forge 1777-78. (some minor fading, small open seam) excellent. Removed from Jeremiah Hutchins Tavern, Bath, NH, built 1798, found on closet walls in 1932 and carefully steamed off. Green, grey and deep red on white with columns and garden elements having reserves with steamboats on river with figures on the shore. Twelve pieces approx. 18 inches x 6 feet.
