OPSM retail making a difference the opportunity Having redesigned OPSM in 2002 we were asked to address the directive from Luxottica Retail to sell high-end fashion products in their stores. our approach This would need a change to the look of the store. We would have to tell the customers that OPSM had changed and what better way to do this than surround the entrance in a strong colour. Customers wouldn t miss the difference as they entered the store passing blue walls, ceiling and floor. The new product needed highlighting too, so it was given more space and the blue colour was used to surround the fashion area. the result OPSM had grown up and become a credible retailer of the latest fashions. We no longer have to show they are thinking about their customers needs because they are now retailers not a medical brand. The graphic style is now more confident, replacing the subtle tints and pastels from before with stronger colours black, blue and orange. And the new glasses? payless shoes shoe shopping made easy the opportunity Since 1980 Payless Shoes has enjoyed being Australia s most successful self-serve shoe retailer. In recent years they have struggled with their proposition, great brands for less, because the great brands have left! Also only 1 in 10 customers who entered the store were buying, so we had to find out why. our approach The challenge for us has been to identify a new proposition for the brand and then redesign the store communications appropriately. The answer lay in the way Payless Shoes have always sold shoes self-serve. Where else can you walk in and buy shoes in 5 minutes without having to ask for service? Payless Shoes is convenient. the result The result is a new logo and new look store for along with a new brand promise shoe shopping made easy. Laubman & Pank eyecare for life the opportunity To reposition the third optometry brand of the Luxottica Group. our approach Having positioned OPSM as the fashion optical retailer for everyone, where could we put L&P? There was room for a local expert, the real optometrist and frame stylists specialising in eyecare for life. the result The result is a warm, comfortable and colourful environment full of informative, genuine and expert advice. Nearly one third of the store is given over to a lounge area where customers can wait for their optometrist. Large graphic images and typographic messages reassure the customer about their eyecare issues and the dark walls both highlight the product panels and create a comfortable, residential feel. *Conditions apply Does my bum look big in these? In this case the familiarity and trust of the product s wrapper is now being replaced with the theatre and excitement of having your own unique Streets product created on the Chill Grill right in front of you. Customers can choose from a wide range of branded base ice cream flavours and inclusions. the result The public s reaction to an established ice cream brand coming to life in this way has been overwhelming. globe newsagency news from around the world the opportunity Our client wished to open a store in Westfield s new Bondi Junction shopping centre with a view of selling the business in a few years. our approach We realised giving the new store an identity would make it more than just another newsagents. Our client had two existing newsagencies in Bondi Junction which he had named Newsagency. He was selling foreign newspapers and magazines, imported gifts and Taschen books. His registered name was Global shopping network so we suggested calling his stores Globe Newsagencies. the result The idea has grown into a unique type of newsagency offering, news, gifts and confectionery from around the world.
