OMAT 1991-2017 The International Young Promises Show 2017 Madrid, 4 th November 2017 at 13:00hrs.
History As a foundation dedicated to promoting hairdressing and beauty training in Spain, OMAT (Organización Mundial de Artes y Técnicas) has spent the last seventeen years organising an annual not-for-profit event in the Ifema exhibition ground facilities as part of the Salon Look exhibition. The event is called The International Young Promises Show, which every year brings together students from all over Spain and, during recent years, from Asia and Europe as well. The event is held in November coinciding with Salon Look, the most important national event in the Spanish hairdressing and beauty market, which brings together more than 80,000 hair and beauty professionals. At recent events, there have been more than 1800 students on the catwalk, with more than 60 schools participating in the show. The participating students are aged between 18 and 30 years old and are receiving hairdressing and beauty therapy training in schools working with OMAT, with increasing numbers competing every year. The skills they demonstrate include: fantasy hairdressing party hairdressing body painting Last year there were Japanese, Chinese and English students involved, enjoying the atmosphere and having the opportunity of practising their hairdressing and beauty skills on the same stage as international top models. The event takes place on the same catwalk as the Pasarela Mercedes Benz Fashion Week.
Objective The main objective of the event is to motivate and inspire young people who are currently training in the hairdressing and beauty sector, and to encourage their enterprising spirit. This year OMAT wish to have more participation from other countries in order to give the show a greater international presence, giving the students a more dynamic and attractive view of the industry and the event. Requirements of participation To be currently studying either an ITEC or VTCT qualification. To be over 18 years old at the time of participation. To be able to attend the show with a teacher or other responsible person from the school or college who is able to lead the student in his/her work backstage. To comply with the rules and regulations of the student s training school or college including: o rules of attendance o behaviour rules To carry out one of the following works: o fantasy hairdressing work done by one student on one model* o party hairdressing work done by one student on one model* o body painting - work done by up to five students on one model* *The students will need to supply their own model/models and products. Students demonstrating fantasy and party hairdressing will have 45 minutes on the stage to finish their work. Students demonstrating body painting will carry out all work backstage and will go on to the stage to show their works. All the students will be allowed access to the backstage area from 7:00hrs on the day of the competition.
