He was not happy to join the Pharmacy Division of the University of Karachi for the Bachelor s Programme. Intermediate from DJ College did not turn out to be contributory to find an entry into Medical College, for the low scores. On a sultry afternoon as Qasim was coming home on a university point, he met two class mates who were sweltering with the same sense of disappointment. The trio made a pledge and plan to repeat the intermediate exam to fulfill their cherished desire. From that day onwards they never looked back, worked industriously without any one s knowledge and ultimately found their goal. Qasim joined the Batch of 79.In the Clinical Batch he was joined by Jabir, Younus, Moiz, Mustuffaetc.
Qasim was a staunch supporter of his Dawoodi Bohra Community Public Welfare Projects. He rendered yeoman s service in establishing thehealth wing of Bohra Community Association. The earlier experienceof working with Shahab-e- Eiduzzahabi showed the light. Later Burhani Guards and Burhani Ambulance Corps had Qasim s hand in it. His social services gained momentum when he joined Lion s Club.Coddled in all positive extracurricularactivitiesqasim successfully graduated.
House Job done in Orthopedics with both Prof Ali Mohammad Ansari and Prof InayetJokhio. It was a uniqueexperience where he faced many contrasting attitudes and circumstances. He still recalls the honesty, dedication and professionalism of Professor Idris. The two days that he spent with Dr.Mohammad Ali Shah at the AO Clinic was a vast learning experience for him. He could not reconcile to the state of the art innovative commercial methods of practice here and declared himself retired hurt afterjust 48 hours.
He worked in Burhani Hospital for some time. To follow is a battery of general practice at multiple places like Bhutta village, New Karachi, Orangi Town, etc. before starting his famous Haidari Clinic in North Nazimabad. Qasim got married in 1982. One daughter and one son qualified as IT engineers from the NED University. They are happily married and settled with their progeny. His son currently works in Iran. The second son is perusing to be a Chartered Accountant. Qasim is a very devoted community organizer and is one of the back bones of the public amenities. Lately he has downsized his practice to devote more time to religious activities. The common man hidden in his persona is simply imposing. He has no desire to become popular, richeror celebrated in any way. He has proved by personal example that one should learn to live in this difficult world like one has to fly over the cuckoo s nest. Living simply makes loving simple.
