Freedom! To open one s arms and feel the unabated expression of happiness flowing through every pore of your fingers. I have always envied birds and their ability to fly away, following the wind and their dreams. Lorenzo Quinn

If there were complete silence, it might be possible to sense the sounds and feelings when two people fall in love: hearts pounding, knots in the stomach, goose bumps, fleeting glances, lack of air... How beautiful it is to fall in love and how magical it is to stay in love. Lorenzo Quinn

Vroom Vroom Fiat 500, aluminium, stainless steel, resin tarmac and Corten steel base Car: 130 x 130 x 300 cm Hand and forearm: 330 cm high Base: 30 x 400 x 300 cm Unique Lorenzo Quinn s monumental sculpture Vroom Vroom was installed on 23 January in the central reservation on Park Lane opposite The Dorchester, as part of Westminster Council s Sculpture Festival. Last year the vintage Fiat 500, which is being clasped by a four metre high aluminium child s hand, was on show at the Institute of Modern Art in Valencia and Abu Dhabi Art Fair. Exploring the relationship between children and their parents, the piece represents something of the independence and freedom Quinn felt the first time he saved enough to buy a car with the proceeds from his early works.

The Force of Nature II Bronze, Stainless Steel, Iron 220 x 421 x 150 cm Edition of 8 plus 3 AP The Force of Nature II was placed in Berkeley Square on 10 February. Give & Take by Lorenzo Quinn was previously placed in the same spot.
We humans think of ourselves as supreme beings, above all others and in absolute control of our destiny and our surroundings. We live with a false sense of security, only to be awakened by Mother Nature s fury, almost as if she needs to remind us of her presence and our responsibility towards her child (the Earth). After having seen the ravaged coast of Thailand and the hurricane that affected the Southern States, I decided to create a sculpture dedicated to Mother Nature. This would be reminiscent of the early statues made as peace offerings to the gods in the hope of quenching their anger. In essence, people are not very different today from the people who lived thousands of years ago. We still devote ourselves to symbols in order to escape our destiny. Lorenzo Quinn

Mauro Perucchetti said: 12 years ago I created a body of work inspired by the dilemma between cloning and religion, and cloning and medical ethics. I decided to use the jelly baby as an impersonation of cloned mankind. I was trying to capture the ambiguity that could be present in a cloned being. On first glance, they seem very sweet, but from certain angles, they can look slightly sinister, especially on a large scale. In the current version, Jelly Baby Family 2010, they could easily embody the unity of family and the multicultural aspect of modern society that is so prevalent, especially in London. I am absolutely privileged and delighted that they will go in such a prominent position, and being opposite Speaker s Corner gives them a particularly symbolic value.
Isis Bronze with Green Patina 300 x 115 x 110 cm Edition of 8 plus 2 AP Isis is the focal point of The Royal Parks Foundation s 2-million fundraising appeal to build a new, ecofriendly Look Out Education Centre in Hyde Park. Perfectly elegant, Gudgeon s monumental sculpture is based on the ibis, a wading bird with a long, thin, down-curving bill. The Royal Parks Foundation collaborated with Halcyon Gallery to turn the vision into reality. Acclaimed British sculptor, Simon Gudgeon, was commissioned to create Isis, a 3-metre high, mottled green, bronze sculpture. Unveiled in September 2009, Isis sits on the banks of The Serpentine with 1,000 plaques inlaid around her base with personal dedications, each raising 1,000.
