Ottawa Bus Tour This afternoon we went on a tour bus to the most important places in Ottawa. The tour guide s name was John, and he told us histories about the places. The places that we visited were the Parliament Hill, the Museum of Civilization. But we spent more time at Parliament Hill. John gave us some facts about Canada. We took photos, and we ate the lunch there. It was an awesome adventure. We learned so much about Canada, before starting with the other activities. Orientation & Parliament Hill Today we went to Parliament Hill after our English class in Ottawa Technical High School. There we went inside the clock tower (Peace Tower). There is the memorial chamber; inside the chamber you can find books with some names of military members, and beautiful glass with stories on it. Then we visited the gift shop and I bought some candies for me and my friends. After, we went outside, around the Parliament, and the teachers gave us a paper with some questions, and places where we could find the answers (the most part of them). The places were almost always sculptures (four ladies that made women be treated equally) and others were just important and beautiful places (Cat Sanctuary, the flames on water, the library and so many more ) We (me and some friends, not all) loved this place because it has everything. It has relevant Canadian history, beautiful sights of the Ottawa River and the bridges near to it, and so many places to take pictures. Anyway, if you come to Canada you should visit Parliament Hill and learn, have fun, and take pictures of a great part of Canada.

Museum of Civilization & IMAX Today we visited the museum; as we started, we saw the form of the museum. It was based on the history of Canada. For example, I think the roof is like a canoe. Then we began a step by step history of Canada scenes very similar to what they lived at that time. Then came the room or the scene of New France, where we saw the tools to hunt whales with. Then we saw a polar bear movie at the IMAX theatre, ate at the cafeteria and went back to school. Byward Market Today we went to the Byward Market; there, we did a Scavenger Hunt in groups around the market. The day was very sunny and the sky was blue. To answer the questions we had to ask people and help each other. There were a lot of things in the market like flowers, earrings, rings, clothes, food, hats and many other interesting products. This kind of activity helps us because we can practice the things we learn in the English classes and it s an activity we enjoy. Also, we bought things in the market for our families, friends or for us. It was a really nice day because we did two things we like: learn new places and practise English. I didn t buy anything

Carleton University Art Gallery After lunch we went to the art gallery at the Carleton University. We caught the bus at the station by the school. There were all different types of art works. For example: Minimalist, abstract, realistic works. My favorite pieces of art were the realistic pictures. It was really difficult for us because everybody is addicted to talking, but we understood after being reprimanded and finally we were quiet. Finally we painted on a paper thing; for example I painted my paper: family, soccer, pizza and cars. We saw a groundhog in the grass and we were very excited because in Colombia we don t have groundhogs. We caught the bus at 4:00 p.m., and we went to the school. This was a good and interesting experience! Cooking Class On Friday afternoon we had a brilliant time learning how to cook. The class went to a professional kitchen in the city with a real Chinese chef. She taught us how to cook cookies and pasta. We made different shapes of cookies. Then each one cut each vegetable and we picked up everything to make the sauce for the pasta. After that everyone ate the pasta and the cookies. The pasta was spicy but everything was delicious.

Canoeing Today after our English class we went canoeing. The class caught the bus and went down to the Ottawa River below the bridge near the Rideau Centre. By the river we met the French canoe guide. He had a strong French accent. He showed us the traditional way to row like the Natives so we were able to move through the water fast. I enjoyed paddling; I felt like part of a real rowing team. We shared the canoe with Chinese students. They splashed us and left us to do all the rowing. In the canoeing there were two groups because one group went first and the other group was playing ultimate Frisbee. We could see other boats and other people in the river. We could see Parliament and the Art Gallery. This was a very good experience. Graffiti Workshop In common parlance, graffiti painting is the result of free-hand wall text, and unlimited creative expression. Its essence changes and evolves and it strives for visual appeal and high emotional impact. Being so revolutionary, urban, and rebellious, there is a policy that graffiti cannot be painted. Graffiti is done spontaneously, fast, in public places, and sometimes remains anonymous. Graffiti is also listed as one of the basic elements of hip hop culture. There are many styles and shapes to make graffiti as well as countless letters. Each artist has a style. In addition to the letters you can make pictures of people or animals, each with an urban style. The colours are essential to the aesthetic, and artists add light and shadows for contrast. They combine the effects of the colours to express themselves.

Bowling Bowling is one of the hobbies that is very entertaining because you never know what can happen. Today I went bowling. We were in four groups; each person has a place and they put a name and the computer gave the score. In this activity we had a good laugh that we shared as a team. The activity was completed at 3:00 p.m. We took the bus after to return to school there and each person was going to his house. In my opinion it has been one of the best activities that require skill. Aboriginal Experience Today we went to Aboriginal Experience. First a lady explained what the activity was and sang an ancient song. Then we went inside a teepee. Inside it was so hot and they explained to us how they lived and why the teepee was the way it was. Then we went to a different house and they explained to us how the house was and how people lived in there and the different types of families that lived there. After that they told us about another type of house made of a boat material. And finally they showed us traditional dances.

Niagara Falls & Toronto This weekend I visited Niagara Falls and the CN Tower. I think that Niagara Fall is the most beautiful place around the world because you feel the sensation of danger and happiness. The CN Tower was awesome! I could see the entire city here and a piece of the floor was made of glass!!! It was the best weekend in my life. Laser Tag Today after our English class we went to Laser Tag. We had to take two buses to arrive there but it was a short trip. When we arrived there we waited for the other group that was playing too, for 15 minutes at least, and then we started our game. While the other group was playing, we were giving the nicknames that we wanted to be. The guide gave us all the rules, then we attached our vest and we were ready to play. We went into the bright flashing room. The place was awesome. There we followed each other and were very excited. We spent a great time there; this was the best activity of all.

Museum of Science and Technology Today we went to the Museum of Science and Technology. First we had a tour and then we were able to see the museum on our own. We saw a lot of inventions like machines and vehicles. We saw a model Titanic and trains. We also bought souvenirs at the gift shop. It was a nice afternoon and the museum is interesting. Calypso Water Park Today was a different day because we didn t have English class and we were together (group 1 and group 2). We arrived at 9:00 a.m. at the parking lot of the school. Then we took the bus and we arrived at Calypso Water Park at 10:30 a.m. Immediately we felt the heat on our skin and the weather was warm, for that reason we were happy and excited to be in the water. First I went with Sara and Manuela to the Jungle. We were so happy because it was faster than in Colombia. Then we went to the wave pool and we were there for 45 minutes because we really enjoyed this place. After that we went to a slide. This was in a group and for that reason we were excited. I was afraid to be on a slide so I took my towel and I bought an ice cream while we left this place. This was an excellent day!!!

Shopping Today the person that had the activity didn t come; for that reason we went to the Rideau Centre for shopping. The teachers gave us an ice cream in McDonald s. We arrived at this place at 3:45 p.m. In the mall I was in my element there were many things to look at and buy. I really liked the glasses store and bought myself some fashionable designer glasses. There was a big Apple store with all the cool new technology. I bought an ipad. I think that the time was so short but it was good. Swimming Today we went to the pool at Carleton University and they made us do a resistance test to see if we could float and swim. We all passed the test and started to jump from the towers; many women were afraid of climbing the towers, but we had a very good time because after we got tired of climbing the towers we played with a ball and had a race. I won! The day was excellent because I like swimming.

Picnic at the Beach I didn t like the picnic because the day was very cold but my friends and I played volleyball and American football on the beach. I ate pizza and then slept for 15 minutes on the grass and then the teachers said it was better to go to the shopping centre because the day was really cold. The shopping centre wasn t much but my friend Camila and I ate one soft ice cream in McDonald s and finally everyone went back to the school. In the morning during class everyone cooked pancakes and we put in chocolate chips, Chantilly cream and strawberries. The pancakes were very delicious, and then I helped to wash the plates. Afternoon at the Movies Today we went to Silver City; it was a very awesome movie theatre. My friends and I saw Brave; it was a nice movie. The movie was about a girl that was being prepared for marriage without her knowing. She wanted to change her mother s opinion so she got a spell from a witch and gave it to her mother, and it turned her into a bear. Then she regretted what she did because her father was the King, and he killed bears. So then she took her mother out of the castle into the woods and she tried to get another spell to change her mother back but the only way was to mend the curtain or something like a tapestry, which she ripped with a sword. So she fixed that and her mother turned back into a human.

Ziplining Today we didn t have English Class because the activity was all day. In the morning we were in the parking lot for a long time because we were waiting for our friends Cristian and Esteban because they were late. So we caught the school bus and the teachers, Sandro and Ben, were there waiting for us. When we started the activity we walked up the mountain for the explanation of the guides. After the instructions we went to the mountain top for some games and next when we were on the mountain top, we jumped into ziplining. Biking Today after English class we took the bus to the Rideau Canal and we went to rent bicycles under the bridge. We met with the other group and we went along the canal. We saw many beautiful scenes, but it was hot. I think I like biking but I don t like to when it is too hot. I enjoyed the activity because we could see a lot of Ottawa and many green places beside the water on the canal.

Byward Market Scavenger Hunt The Byward Market is like a Sanalejo in Colombia. It was funny today because we found new people that were crazy but cool people. My group and I did the activity but it was boring because we had to do a lot of things and we didn t enjoy everything in the Byward Market. I like that there was a military store. They had clothes and stuff like that. Later we went to a bakery and I found 10 different types of Beavertails. We had a good time because we found different shops like one of temporary tattoos. It was fun today. I liked it.
