UNIFORM POLICY Our uniform policy encourages in students a sense of pride, belonging and loyality to our Chestnut Grove community. Students are expected to be smartly dressed at all times, including on their journey to and from the Academy. Students not wearing the correct uniform or not adhering to expectations with regards to appearance will not be permitted to attend lessons. In such cases, students will, with parental consent, be sent home to change or alternatively be sent to our internal exclusion room until the student corrects his/her appearance.
Academy blazer Trousers Skirt Shirt DESCRIPTION Green with school logo Black, formal, classic style, full length Black, classic style, knee-length Plain white traditional school shirt FURTHER INFORMATION To be kept in a smart, clean appearance and worn during the day, as well as to and from the Academy, unless directed otherwise by staff. Sleeves to be worn at full length and not rolled-up. Only Academy issued badges to adorn the blazer. No jean-like, corduroy, high-fashion, overly tight trousers, leggings or shorts. Trousers should be worn with a secure fit around the waist. Belts should be black, plain and functional, with no oversized buckles or trimmings and not worn as a fashion accessory. Skirts should be made from traditional skirt material and not tight fitting. Slits should be minimal in length and functional. Skirts must not be shortened by rolling them up at the waist. The shirt should be tucked in, buttoned at the neck and sleeves worn at full length. Any t-shirt or underwear worn underneath should not be visible. No designer shirts or fitted blouses. Tie House colour Must be kept in good condition with colour visible and worn with a closed knot covering the shirt collar button at the neck. Tie should be of appropriate length. Socks Plain black Must be plain, no pattern designs and worn below the knee. No pop socks. Tights Plain black No footless, patterned or fishnet tights, leggings or legwarmers. Not to be worn with socks. Shoes Hats and Scarves Bag Polished black, traditional style, black stitching, black sole and heel Plain black Years 7-8 Chestnut Grove Academy bag Years 9-11 black bag A plain design, no trimmings, logos, decorative buckles, coloured laces or stitching, labels, tags, or other decorations. No shoe/trainer hybrid footwear with Velcro fastenings, trainers or fabric shoes. No Vans. No boots. No baseball caps on site. Black woolly hats are permitted outside at break and lunchtimes during winter months. If worn in the building or in the summer months they will be confiscated No pashminas. No bandanas. If worn for religious reasons, head scarf should be plain black. Years 9-11 bags must be black and can carry A4 size books. Man bags, plastic carrier bags, handbags, purse bags, shoulder pouches and other inappropriate fashion bags will not be permitted. The phone will be retained by Chestnut Grove Academy for 24 hours, after which it can be collected by a parent or carer. If a student fails to hand over his / her phone, he / she will receive a two day internal exclusion. If a student fails to hand over the mobile phone in Internal, he / she will receive two days exclusion at Southfields Exclusion Centre Smart watches are not permitted on site Jewellery and any other forbidden items (except mobile phones, see above) will be returned at the end of half term.
