HANDLOOM EXPORT PROMOTION COUNCIL REPORT ON WHO S NEXT 2014 The regular Bi-annual event Who s Next 2014 held at Porte de Versailles, Paris from 4th July to 7th July 2014. It has also been pointed out to the Ambassador that HEPC has already submitted proposal under Market Access Initiative scheme for organizing participation of 25 member exporters in July 2015 edition. Ambassador was also received by the Fair authorities and accompanied throughout his stay in the venue. This year the fair

As per the latest DGCI&S export data our exports to European Union has increased from Rs.770.17 Crores in 2011-12 to Rs.880.59 Crores in the year 2013-14. This increase in export is mainly from Austria, Estonia and Hungary, where the growth was 286.66%, 182.94% and 340.26% respectively. Similarly, our export of Clothing Accessories to France has also gone up over the last five years from Rs.0.01 Crores in the year 2009-10 to Rs.1.47 Crores during 2013-14 along with overall export of handloom products from Rs.42.34 Crores in the year 2009-10 to Rs.86.49 Crores during 2013-14. Hence, it is evident that our handloom products especially Clothing Accessories has huge market. According to the fair authority the fair was attended by Asia: +51.7% for China and +64.1% for Korea. It was Japan that alone 1200 visitors present at the show. The number of visitors from outside France has gone up because of the strong presence of export clients, the number of visitors to the WHO'S NEXT show rose from 36% to 38% in comparison to last July, confirming the international relevance of the WHO'S NEXT trade show. A total of 36,810 visitors passed through the doors of the Porte de Versailles between 4th and 7th July. Although the show witnessed an overall drop of 15%, closely linked to the decrease in the number of French visitors (-18.4%), the buyer category continues to increase. Exhibitors have noted the presence of quality buyers as well as large numbers of international origin, who were on the lookout for designer pieces and strong products. The central walkway appeared calmer than usual, it was largely attributed to the increase in size of this space (from 7000 to 18,000m2) and the changeable weather conditions during the weekend of the show.

Feed back of our 15 member exporters are mixed up in nature, as usual including business transaction. The total spot orders booked by our 15 participants were Rs.2.48 Crores and enquiry generated worth of Rs.4.36 Crores. Except four of our participants all others have done good business. One of our participants alone booked orders worth of Rs.1.47 Crores and received enquiries worth of Rs.2.05 Crores. In all 205 business visitors have visited our participants. This shows the importance to continue our participation in the fair. In our future participation we may include more participants with designer developed products such as mixed fiber ready to wear, bags, Joggers dress, apart from usual stoles and shawls.
