Home generated medical waste accepted at nine different times during the year. Call with questions. HHW collections occur once every two years, generally in October of odd numbered years. Accept properly contained sharps from residents of Coldwater only. Contact your local health department, physician, pharmacy, or hospital for options outside of Coldwater. Residents of Calhoun County are entitled to one free mail-back sharps container annually, available at several pharmacies around Calhoun County. Additional containers are available for a $5 co pay. When full, the containers are mailed to Sharps Compliance, Inc. for proper treatment and disposal. Please contact the Department for a full list of participating pharmacies. Properly contained sharps will be accepted from residents of Cass County at the annual Household Hazardous collection. Please contact first for details. Website contains info and directions to a permanent HHW collection center where properly contained sharps are accepted. Laboratory gives residents of Luce County free sharps containers. When full, they are returned for a new container. Residents of Macomb County may bring their full sharps containers to Elite Trauma Clean-Up, located at 43686 North Gratiot in Clinton Township for disposal. Please call first between the hours of 1-3pm Monday- Friday only. Residents of Manistee County may bring their filled sharps containers (generated from home use only) to the Manistee County Medical Care Facility, located at 1505 East Parkdale Avenue in Manistee for free disposal.
