AIM To ensure that staff and students are dressed and well groomed to standard that is consistent with Christian profession. Dress for the Christian should exemplify the principle of modesty. A scripturally informed definition of modesty: Modesty in dress is the application of an appropriate sense of shame as one of the considerations that guide our choices of clothing. (Genesis 2; 1 Timothy 2:9) 2. UNIFORM 2.1 Students shall wear the approved school uniform as stated in Appendix A at all times while at school, travelling to and from school, or attending school-related functions. 2.2 Students shall be permitted to wear their school sports uniform on the stipulated school sports days and other days as designated by the Principal. 2.3 The uniform shall conform to the Uniform Specifications as stated in Appendix A. 3. TEMPORARY DRESS CODE 3.1 Where a student is enrolled in Hervey Bay Christian Academy on a temporary basis, the student shall be permitted to wear the school uniform of his/her previous school in lieu of the school uniform. 4. JEWELLRY 4.1 All jewellry worn at school or at school-related functions shall conform with the guidelines for jewellry as stated in Appendix A. 5. HAIR STYLING 5.1 Boys hairstyle must be conservative, masculine, neat and tidy, and off the collar and ears. Boys should be clean shaven. 5.2 Girls hairstyles must be above the eyebrows and back off the face. Girls with shoulder length hair and longer are required to wear their hair tied up. 5.3 Girls are permitted to wear jade, blue, or white clasps, ribbons, combs, or bands. 5.4 For both boys and girls, no unusual hairstyles or colourings are to be used. 6. NON-UNIFORM DRESS CODE 6.1 Students may wear appropriate non-uniform dress on days designated by the Principal as long as such dress upholds a Godly standard of modesty and does not promote worldly fads, fashions, or logos and complies with the clear and simple guidelines set in Appendix A under Non-uniform Dress Code. STUDENT GENERAL DRESS CODE SPORT UNIFORM Sport days will be designated at the commencement of each school term. Students are to wear the sports uniform to school on the appropriate days. PERFORMANCE/DRESS UNIFORM Secondary boys and girls will wear the specified Performance/Dress Uniform for all performances and special occasions. HATS Bottle green crushable slouch hat with logo in white School hats are to be worn during all outdoor school activities and travelling to and from school. SUPPLIERS All items are available through the school office, however, some items we recommend sourcing from local retailers. HAIR Girls - Must be above the eyebrows and back off the face. JEWELLERY Watches and plain signet rings are allowed for all students. Studs or sleepers are allowed for girls only, in pierced earlobes and only one set. Senior girls (years 9-12) may wear one other piece of approved jewelry, except on formal dress occasions. ALL STUDENTS Uniforms will be checked regularly. If correction is needed, a note will be sent home. Uniforms are to be worn correctly and in a clean and tidy manner. We do appreciate everyone's efforts to care for their children's uniforms.
