THIS RULE IS NEW FOR THE 2018-2019 SCHOOL YEAR: ANY ACCESSORY OR CLOTHING ITEM ADORNED WITH METALS THAT COULD CREATE DELAYS AT CAMPUS METAL DETECTORS SHOULD NOT BE WORN.

THIS POWER POINT WILL SHOWCASE EACH SECTION OF THE DRESS CODE ALONG WITH HIGHLIGHTS AND COMMON INFRACTIONS PER SECTION. WHILE WE ARE SHOWING ONLY COMMON INFRACTIONS, EVERY ASPECT OF THE DRESS CODE MUST BE FOLLOWED WHILE ON CAMPUS.

Grooming: Students should come to school bathed and free of body odor. Hair should be neat and clean, and should not be distracting to the learning environment. Extreme hairstyles will not be allowed (carvings, spikes, designs, Mohawks, etc.) Eyebrows cannot be extremely colored, carved, notched, etc. Unnatural looking contact lenses are prohibited. Make-up/Body Art: Violent, profane, and sexual visible tattoos (temporary or permanent), face painting, body art or personal body drawings are not appropriate and must be covered. Accessories: Chains other than jewelry will not be allowed. Spiked jewelry of any kind is not allowed. Dog collars are not allowed. Sunglasses, hats, caps, bandannas, scarves, hoods, or other headwear are not allowed in school or on buses. Visible body piercings should not be distracting to the learning environment. Gang-related clothing or articles are not allowed, including bandannas, towels, beads, etc.

Dress Standards All clothing items will be addressed below to describe specific requirements. Shoes: Shoes must be worn at all times at school. Laces on shoes must be tied appropriately. House slippers or house shoes and flip flops are not allowed. Shoes with rollers ( heelies ) are not permitted unless the rollers have been removed.

Shirts/Blouses/Sweaters/Sweatshirts May be any color or style, EXCEPT the following: Backless or halter tops. Bare midriffs, low-cut or exposing cleavage. Gang-affiliated. Pajamas. See-through or sheer. Off the shoulder Spaghetti straps, thin straps, or strapless. Tube tops. Advertise sex, alcohol, drugs, tobacco or any product related to sex, alcohol, drugs, or tobacco. Inappropriate advertising, pictures, slogans, or statements, including gang memberships or affiliations.

C OMMON I NFRACTION : SHORT BLOUSES OR SHIRTS ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE AT SCHOOL. THE MID-SECTION, OR STOMACH AREA, MUST BE COVERED. IF THE MID-SECTION IS EXPOSED WHEN HANDS ARE RAISED OVER THE HEAD, THE BLOUSE OR SHIRT IS TOO SHORT. TANK TOPS, CUT-OFF SHIRTS, OR SHIRTS/BLOUSES THAT EXPOSE THE UPPER TORSO ARE UNACCEPTABLE. NOT ACCEPTABLE

Dress Standards All clothing items will be addressed below to describe specific requirements. Shorts: Shorts may be any color and must be hemmed. Shorts must fit and be worn at the waist (no sagging). No baggy or oversized shorts are allowed. Spandex, lycra, or other tight, "body fitting" shorts are not allowed at school. Shorts must be walking shorts style and no shorter than 2 above the knee. Shorts that have a flap designed to simulate a skirt ( skort ) are allowed if they are no shorter than 2 above the knee. Pants: Pants (jeans or slacks) must fit and be worn at the waist (no sagging). No baggy, oversized, or widelegged pants are allowed. See through pants/jeans/slacks with distressed areas more than 2 above the knee revealing skin are not allowed. Pajama pants are not allowed in school. Overalls are allowed if worn appropriately over an approved dress code shirt/blouse. Capri pants (pants reaching the mid-calf or below) are acceptable. Yoga pants / body fitting pants are allowed IF a shirt/top is worn over the pants that reaches mid-thigh length.

Dress Standards All clothing items will be addressed below to describe specific requirements. Skirts/Jumpers: Any color skirt /jumper are allowed. Denim is permissible. The hemline of skirts and jumpers must be no shorter than 2 above the knee. This includes long shirts worn as dresses. Tight, form-fitting skirts and jumpers are not allowed at school (no lycra or spandex). Slits in skirts/jumpers may not be any shorter than 2 above the knee. Dresses: Any color dress is allowed, including denim. Dresses must have sleeves. The hemline of dresses must be no shorter than 2 above the knee. Tight, form-fitting dresses are not allowed at school (no lycra or spandex). Slits in dresses may not be more than 2 above the knee. Plunging necklines, exposed cleavage, and bare backs are not appropriate for school.

COMMON INFRACTIONS THE HEMLINE OF SKIRTS AND JUMPERS MUST BE NO SHORTER THAN 2 ABOVE THE KNEE. THIS INCLUDES LONG SHIRTS WORN AS DRESSES (AKA: T-SHIRT DRESSES) PLUNGING NECKLINES, EXPOSED CLEAVAGE, AND BARE BACKS ARE NOT APPROPRIATE FOR SCHOOL. NOT PERMITTED TIGHT, FORM-FITTING DRESSES ARE NOT ALLOWED AT SCHOOL (NO LYCRA OR SPANDEX). no shorter than 2 above the knee

Dress Standards All clothing items will be addressed below to describe specific requirements. Outerwear: Outerwear is defined as clothing designed to protect from the elements, such as coats and jackets. Coats and jackets should be of an appropriate size/fitted, should not be below the hip in length, and may be worn over dress code attire in inclement weather. Long coats of any style (trench coats, dusters, overcoats, military type jackets) and jackets with an excessive amount of inner and outer pockets are not acceptable as a form of outerwear and will not be accepted at school. Any item of outerwear deemed unsuitable for school by the administration will be prohibited, including, but not limited to, those that depict or promote the occult, gang memberships, death, suicide, violence, drugs, alcohol, tobacco, or sex. Shirts and t-shirts are not considered outerwear and, if out of dress code, cannot be worn over shirts in dress code. Any clothing worn under outerwear must comply with dress requirements.

OUTERWEAR COATS AND JACKETS SHOULD BE OF AN APPROPRIATE SIZE/FITTED, SHOULD NOT BE BELOW THE HIP IN LENGTH, AND MAY BE WORN OVER DRESS CODE ATTIRE IN INCLEMENT WEATHER APPROPRIATE NOT APPROPRIATE

LONG COATS OF ANY STYLE (TRENCH COATS, DUSTERS, OVERCOATS, MILITARY TYPE JACKETS) AND JACKETS WITH AN EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF INNER AND OUTER POCKETS ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE AS A FORM OF OUTERWEAR AND WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED AT SCHOOL.
