Eyeliner is used in makeup application to define and emphasize the shape and size of the eyes. Pencil liners are designed to offer a softer look and are able to be smudged creating an even softer appearance. Liquid liners achieve a harder line and may not be as flattering for day ware. Generally a harsher line is reserved for evening or specific fashion makeup designs. Apply liners at the lash line by gently pulling the lid upward. When using a pencil, use short strokes. Pencil liners may be applied inside the eyelid as well, but be sure not to cover the tear duct. There are a variety of ways to apply eyeliner. The clients eye shape and fashion statement are two factors to consider when choosing the style of eyeliner.
