TURNING POINT SECONDARY Standards and Expectations Overview ATTENDANCE Attendance is extremely important. Excessive absences will be referred to the Truancy Officer. Students will attend classes from 9:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. It is the responsibility of the parent and the student to make sure the student arrives and leaves the campus at the correct times. If a student is absent or tardy for any reason, it is the parent's responsibility to notify the school at 682-867-300 by 10:00 a.m. of that day. The Arlington ISO Code of Conduct details the district attendance policy. Parents/Guardians will need to notify the school by 3:30 p.m. if their child is not to ride the bus. TPS will NOT accept bus information (change of bus stops, not riding today, etc.) from students. ENTERING THE BUILDING DAILY PROCEDURES 1. All electronic devices must be turned off. 2. Greet the Turning Point Secondary staff member at the door. 3. Remove belt, jacket, shoes, and anything else that has metal. 4. Show insides of pockets to the teachers on duty. 5. Place all possessions in the plastic tray. 6. Walk through the metal detector with arms relaxed at sides. 7. Collect possessions, replace belt, and conform to the dress code before passing the checkpoint. MORNING RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Students that want to go to breakfast, get a drink of water, or use the restroom must get permission from the teacher on duty in the entry hall before the student goes to first period. 2. Student needs to go to locker (if needed) and get everything for the day. 3. Student must go immediately to his/her first period. TRAVELING THROUGH THE HALLS 1. ALWAYS walk on the designated side of the hall in single file. 2. Walk quietly and quickly to destination. Students will follow the AISD Dress Code standards along with additional restrictions in the Turning Point Secondary Dress Code
DRESS CODE SHIRTS & JACKETS Shirts, sweatshirts, jackets, and light sweaters will be solid black for high school and solid white for junior high. No hoodies allowed. All shirts must touch collar bone all the way around the neck. Shirts must be free of large logos, decorations, pictures, or writing. Logos may be no larger than the TPS Student I.D. card. Shirts will cover the entire torso, crown of shoulder, and armpit area. All undershirts and/or extra shirts must be solid white or black. ALL shirts must be tucked in. Shirts not long enough to stay tucked in will not be allowed. See-through and form fitting clothing are not appropriate for school. Under garments should not be seen through shirts. Sweatshirts, jackets, and light sweaters may be untucked. Coats and jackets that do not meet the Dress Code color standards may not be worn in the building. Students are to carry coats and jackets over their arm from the metal detector directly to their locker to be put away for the day. PANTS Pants may only be solid tan khaki (No cargo pants). No shorts allowed. No layering of shorts under pants. Pants that display inappropriate decorations, logos, or any colored stitching are not allowed. Pants will be worn at the waist; (NO SAGGING). Holes, rips, or tears are not allowed in pants. Pants must have belt loops and belts must be worn at all times (No elastic-waist pants). Skirts are not allowed. Overalls or suspenders are not allowed. SHOES, SOCKS, AND BELTS All students must wear shoes at all times. Visible socks must be school appropriate. No Flip-Flops. Shoes must have heel straps. Students may not wear house shoes or slippers. Belts must be white, silver, gold, clear, gray, black, or brown only. No other colors allowed. Belts are required to be worn at all times. Belt buckles must be school appropriate. GENERAL No jewelry allowed except for earrings and piercings. Facial hair must be neatly groomed. Make-up, hair treatment, or nail polish that is considered inappropriate or calls attention to individual students is not allowed "Inappropriate" will be determined by the TPHS administration. All hair accessories must be white, silver, gold, clear, black or brown only. No other colors allowed. Gang related or inappropriate tattoos cannot be visible and should be covered before entering school each day.
