4 Housekeeping tips THREE PRINCIPLES OF PROFESSIONAL CLEANING Clean from top to bottom (clean highest surfaces first, moving dirt down). Clean from dry to wet (remove dry soils before wet cleaning). Clean in a pattern (any pattern is fine, back to front/left to right, etc. - establishing a pattern allows for more consistent and complete cleaning). CHEMICAL SAFETY IS NO ACCIDENT Always use the right product & procedure for the cleaning task at hand. Never mix different chemicals / cleaning products. Read product directions and usages. Read and understand chemical SDS sheets (Safety Data Sheet). Always use a grounded plug with equipment in wet environments. Protect your skin and eyes from harsh chemicals. CLEANING TIPS Good custodial practices are important because the first person affected by a dirty environment is the one doing the cleaning. Just because I ve always done it this way is no reason to continue. Wash your hands frequently; don t spread or take germs home with you. Always wear gloves and proper clothing to reduce cross contamination. Change dirty solutions, mop heads, rags & dust mops as needed. Report equipment and tools in need of repair.
