2 WELCOME Dear Colleague, my department and the Scuola di Oncologia Ricostruttiva are very pleased to announce that we are organising the event Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery of the Breast, 3rd European Conference" that will be held in Milan, from the 14th-17th December Experts from the most prestigious institutions will be present to enrich the Scientific Programme and to share and compare techniques and experiences with the audience. Live surgery will be held each morning and the opportunity to ask questions in real time from the auditorium to the surgeons that are performing the operation increases the teaching level to a very high standard. Smaller workshops will be held the first day of the conference allowing participants to focus on special topics. Sessions dedicated to Body and psychological implication in breast reconstruction as well as Radiotherapy, Breast Detection in Breast Reconstruction and Aesthetic Surgery of the breast will be included. 11 ABSTRACTS Abstracts Participants are invited to send abstracts on: Innovations, complications and new techniques in breast reconstruction Prevention and detection in breast cancer Aesthetic breast surgery The abstracts will be reviewed by the Scientific committee and the abstracts that are given the highest points will be included in the Scientific Programme. Abstracts must be written in English and be in Times New Roman font and should not exceed 1000 characters. Send the abstract either by as an attached document to: indicating as the subject Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery or by surface mail saved on a floppy disk in word. You should indicate the authors name and the list of co-authors, the name of your institute and personal address, , telephone and fax. The deadline for abstracts is 30 th September 2005 and acceptance of the abstracts will be communicated before the 31 th October. 12 SCHOOL OF ONCOLOGICAL RECONSTRUCTIVE SURGERY The School of Oncological Reconstructive Surgery was founded with the scope of increasing knowledge in the area of reconstructive oncology. Founded in June, 1999 by Maurizio Nava MD, director of the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Unit of the National Cancer Institute of Milan. The goals of the School are: To contribute in increasing information available in the area of oncological reconstructive surgery. To organize and promote Courses, Seminars and Congresses on this area of speciality. To develop research in oncological reconstructive surgery and produce journals and multi-media material.
