On friday september 5th 2008, Jypsy s owner woke up to a tangled mess of corral panels and an obviously major injury to her left hind leg, which required an emergency trip to the veterinarian. X-rays showed that Jypsy broke her lateral left rear splint bone in four pieces, tore the deep digital flexor tendon, suspensory ligament and nerve sheaths. There are a few options for an injury like this. Surgery to remove the pieces or leave them in and hope they calcify. If the bone fragments are left in and they don t calcify, they will either work themselves out or have to be removed at a later date. Surgery on a 41 year old horse was a great concern to the owner, who then called me for my opinion. The owner was familiar with the use of clay for wounds, but didn t know how effective the clay would be for a fracture. I asked if Jypsy had the will to live, and i was told Absolutely! Jypsy was treated with French Green clay, a 100% natural bio-organic materiel imported from France. We have used no antibiotics, no ointments on her wound..none what so ever! All of this healing is simply and completely natural. Treatment started with clay poultices that were changed 6 times a day at 2 hour intervals, for the first 7 days. Clay was added to her drinking water right away. The next day, a chinese herbal mixture called tendon repair from For Love Of The Horse was given orally 2 times a day for a month. A few days later, per my recommendation, several essential oils were added to the clay poultices. On October 2nd, Jypsy was taken to Dr Boreson to find out if the pieces of bone needed to be removed. The Xray clearly showed that it was calcifying and no surgery was needed. The doctor couldn t believe it.. he was amazed of such a recovery. Jypsy is doing absolutely great! She was born in 1967, and is now going o 42..
